Have you googled archer the adult spy comedy? That is what popped into my head straight away. Have no idea if anyone would know/care but I couldn't use it for that reason.

My first association is 'Jeffrey' or 'The Archers'.

Or someone from Loughborough pronouncing 'Archie'.

It's nice. He'd probably become yet another Archie though so you'd need to like that too.

Ha! Have you seen the show? www.imdb.com/title/tt1486217/

Not keen on surnames as first names but as they go it's ok

Love Archer and it's a great TV spy.

I don't like it. It's a surname imo.

I see it as a surname and a way to give a child the shortening Archie without calling him Archibald. Also (possibly showing my age) Peach Schnapps.

Sure, it's nice. :)!

it's in the same category as Hunter imo. :) It's really nice.

I like it, I didn't even immediately think of it being a surname.
Did think of the Archers but that's not bad - is it?

However, it's a mormon name to me personally, not sure why. Sorry.

Makes me think of Archers peach schnapps too. It's OK but very American, like Carson or Harrison.

Don't like it - it's in the same category as Hunter, Fisher, Carter etc., surnames that very clearly come from occupations that people still do today, so sounds silly as a first name, IMO.

Why not Archie?

It's not my favourite, but I certainly wouldn't judge anyone else for using it. It actually sounds quite middle class to me. We live in Range Rover land which seems to be entirely populated by tiny Saylors, Pipers and Hunters.

I like it, I think it's sweet

I suppose I just think of an archer being someone who shoots someone with a bow and arrow, like at Agincourt. So it seems rather violent to me, like Hunter. I also (showing my age again) think of Jeffrey Archer. And the meaning of the word 'arch' in the sense of 'knowing, superior, affectedly playful' which isn't great.

But I don't hate it.
