I'm not so sure about the spelling of Jaxson, and Taliah isn't a favourite of mine either.

Chathamhouserules · 26/03/2017 14:52

Don't like jaxson. Wouldn't like it even if it was spelt right. Taliah is quite nice. I know a Saliha (pronounced same way) It is a Muslim/Pakistani name I think. It's really nice but she is always having to tell people how to say/spell.

OneSecondAfter · 26/03/2017 14:52

Jaxson doesn't make sense to me because the name only needs the s if you're spelling it Jackson. If you're using an x, the s is totally unnecessary and really confusing. So I'd go for one or the other - Jackson OR Jaxon.

P.s. I like Taliah (presuming it's pronounced Tal-ee-uh.

Chathamhouserules · 26/03/2017 14:58

Sorry didn't mean to post twice. Actually it's pronounced Sa Lee ha.

Loyly · 26/03/2017 14:59

I don't like them, sorry.

AssassinatedBeauty · 26/03/2017 15:08

What sort of thoughts are you after? If you like the names then it doesn't matter what other people think.

crapfatbanana · 26/03/2017 15:35

Not ever so keen. I like Jack Philip and Beth Lynn.

OnNaturesCourse · 26/03/2017 16:01

Thanks to those with constructive thoughts. After all this is a baby name forum!!!

We originally thought of Jack but my DP prefers Jaxson (he says Jacks Sin more than Jack Son) and means I can use Jax (jacks) as a nn. Again Taliah is his choice which is growing on me!

OP posts:
LottieL · 26/03/2017 16:58

Can you not just spell it Jaxon? Or Jackson?
The Sons of Anarchy character nicknamed Jax has the proper name of Jackson so it clearly doesn't effect the NN possibility 🙂

Gallavich · 26/03/2017 17:01

Jaxson Confused
Jax had the s sound, jaxson is just unnecessary letters. It looks horrible and also illogical.
You can use jax as a nickname for Jackson. Jackson is a nice name! Don't ruin it.

florascotianew · 26/03/2017 17:03

OP - I don't want to criticise. This is not about your choice of names - that's entirely up to you - but about spelling . As previous poster says, 'x' is used to spell the sound 'ks' or 'cks'. So 'Jaxson' = two separate sounds, 'jacks' + 'son', with a sort of pause for breath in the middle. If that's what you want, then fine. But won't that lead to confusion? People will hear and think 'Jack's son' (child of a person named Jack) rather than the name 'Jackson' or 'Jaxon'.

Talia is normally spelled without an 'h' at the end: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talia_(given_name)

A similar name of different origin has an 'h' after the initial T : www.behindthename.com/name/thalia

sosieso · 26/03/2017 17:27

I teach a girl called Talia who is lovely, but it isn't to my taste. I would spell it Talia though, not Taliah if you do go with it. Don't like Jaxson (autocorrect keeps trying to spell it Jackson).

Rockaby · 26/03/2017 18:13

I don't like Jaxson (sorry). I'm not mad about Jackson, but it's a perfectly ok name. It's just the strange spelling I'm not keen on.

Taliah on the other hand is really nice, but I prefer the spelling Talia.

Are you open to other suggestions or not really? If yes then:

Jenson Phillip R
Jackson Phillip R
Jasper Phillip R

Bethany Lynn R (nn Beth)
Elizabeth Lynn R (nn Beth)
Matilda (nn Tilda or Tilly)
Natalia (NN Talia)
Tansy

If you are not open to suggestions then obviously ignore me! Grin

adamharriet · 26/03/2017 18:58

Taliah/Talia Beth Lynn is a very pretty name. Jaxon is ok. X

Usanayme · 26/03/2017 19:21

Taliah/Thalia/Talia is nice

Same thoughts on Jaxson as everyone else. Jaxon or Jackson would be better (although I prefer Jaxson to Jaxxon, which is one I've come across)

Sophronia · 26/03/2017 19:47

I'd spell them Jackson and Thalia

OnNaturesCourse · 26/03/2017 20:03

I prefer Jackson but DP is keen on the Jax part/sound. I guess Jaxon makes more sense but I want to say Jacks-son.. Like a longer on sound..with than spelling.

The sound Jack must be in boys name.

Girls not set

All middle names are set so we are working round those.

Jackson and jaxon are pronounced exactly the same Confused

Rockaby · 26/03/2017 21:06

Jaxon and Jackson are pronounced exactly the same to me as well - jaxon rhymes with klaxon. Jackson rhymes with klaxon.

I prefer Jack on its own or maybe John / Jonathan with nn Jack. Jackson is ok and Jaxon is ok. Jaxson makes it look like jax...son.

It's so hard to explain this is writing! Hope it makes sense Smile.

Dontrocktheboat · 26/03/2017 21:11

Jaxson is ridiculous. Don't like Jackson but at least it is spelled correctly - am personally not keen on any of the 'son' names, seems superfluous unless his father is actually called Jack.

Talia is ok - I think I have mainly seen it spelled Thalia though. I think there would be pronounciation issues.

Beth is nice!
