Hi all,

What do you think of the name Mars/Marz? I know it isn't very common so I'm not sure what others think of it. How do you think it should be spelt?

Thanks

It's a planet/chocolate bar in my mind

What about Mario, Mark, Marco?

English people will read it as the name of a chocolate bar or a god of war. Are you from a different culture, OP?

Definitely not. If you absolutely have to go with it then mars is marginally better than Marz

You would be setting your child up for a bloody awful time at school
What about Marcus?

März is the German word for the month of March.

'Martial' is derived from Mars, the god of war according to mythology.

Personally, I don't like the sound of what it sounds like, and I don't like the connotations, so another no from me.

Lars is nice though Smile

Mars is god of war.

War fan, OP?

Clearly the baby is an accessory to you, hence publicing the oddball name to all. Same school class as Blue Ivy, Kai, Princess et al.

I just looked it up - god of war as a power to peace, rather than Ares (destruction).

Still don't like it though.

It's a lot to live up to, like Zeus or something.
(Oh crikey, don't go putting Zeus on your list now too).

It's a no from me. How about Miles?

Portico, Kai is rather a commonplace name in German speaking/scandinavian countries. I know a Kai who must now be in his late 50s/early 60s.
I wanted a Kai but was vetoed by DH Grin

Personally, I would scan the DVLA personalised plates, and build a name around that.

A Mars a day helps you work, rest and play.

Just, no.
