Love it

Thatextrainch Sat 18-Mar-17 14:14:27

It's no different to Alfie, Arthur, Henry etc imo

MarcelineQueen Sat 18-Mar-17 14:14:37

No unless you're a tank engine or really posh, then fine

SelfObsessionHoney Sat 18-Mar-17 14:14:52

He's a bit of a knob in Harry Potter.

sparechange Sat 18-Mar-17 14:15:12

I know 2 Percys

One is a dog and one is a cat

Orangedaisy Sat 18-Mar-17 14:15:52

Love it too.

SpikeGilesSandwich Sat 18-Mar-17 14:16:34

I think it's fine. The Percy Jackson series of books and films is pretty popular, I'm surprised there aren't more little Percys.

Cosmicglitterpug Sat 18-Mar-17 14:17:05

I had this on the list for DD2. I asked a few friends what they thought of it. Someone said it put her in mind of a lisping mummy's boy with receding hair. I must admit it put me off.

PuppyMonkey Sat 18-Mar-17 14:17:15

As a Corrie fan, I will always say it :"ooh, Percy!" In a Phyllis Pearce deep voice grin

ThroughThickAndThin01 Sat 18-Mar-17 14:17:55

Dislike it. A weak name.

memyselfandaye Sat 18-Mar-17 14:18:31

Will he be comfortable being called that when he's a teenager?

Awful imo.

Twoevils Sat 18-Mar-17 14:19:24

Can be slang for a penis ... so no ....

RustyBear Sat 18-Mar-17 14:22:31

It's a penis' name.

'Just going to point Percy at the porcelain'

Not to mention the penis transplant films Percy & Percy's Progress...

acatcalledjohn Sat 18-Mar-17 14:23:20

I instantly think of the M&S Percy Pig sweets.

FoofFighter Sat 18-Mar-17 14:25:26

I know someone who's grandson aged around 5/6 is called Percy.

I don't like it personally because it feels like a name for a feeble weak man.

Ontopofthesunset Sat 18-Mar-17 14:27:39

It seems like a sort of jokey posh twit name. I don't like the sound (makes me think of pursed lips, so a bit sneery). And it means penis: 'pointing Percy at the porcelain".

watchingitallagain Sat 18-Mar-17 14:42:32

I had never heard of pointing Percy at the porcelain! Oh dear me. I wonder where the idea that it sounds weak comes from?

It's on my radar because our baby is due on the birthday of my favourite poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. He wasn't a weak man.

Thanks for all of your feedback. This is baby number three and I always opt for names that polarise people. It's good to know about the penis connection! blush I was expecting to get trains or maybe even Blackadder references, but not todgers.

peaceloveandbiscuits Sat 18-Mar-17 15:13:48

I lolled at your "for a boy" comment. I wouldn't like it much on a girl.

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere Sat 18-Mar-17 15:15:54

I know a Percy! It suits him innnensely - he's a cheeky and gorgeous little fella smile

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere Sat 18-Mar-17 15:16:02

Immensely blush

peaceloveandbiscuits Sat 18-Mar-17 15:17:09

Ditto imaceleb smile

peaceloveandbiscuits Sat 18-Mar-17 15:17:28
