What do you guys think of this name for a boy?

Neolara Fri 17-Mar-17 21:20:21

Just unbelievably awful. Please don't..

carabos Fri 17-Mar-17 21:20:34

Only if his brothers are called Wayne and Gary grin.

user1489781128 Fri 17-Mar-17 21:20:48

Why do you think it's awful? I'm actually interested into why?

SugarLoveHeart Fri 17-Mar-17 21:22:28

And his girlfriend is called Tracy

Caprianna Fri 17-Mar-17 21:24:27

I would laugh if someone i knew called their baby Darren. I don't know why.

user1489781128 Fri 17-Mar-17 21:24:35

I actually don't get why this name is so bad to you guys sad

Makinglists Fri 17-Mar-17 21:25:50

No, not yet. Another 20 years or so and you would get away with it as retro - perhaps

TheUpsideDown Fri 17-Mar-17 21:25:58

If you don't mind the chavvy nickname 'Daz' when he's a teen grin

regularbutpanickingabit Fri 17-Mar-17 21:26:38

It's an era thing. There are a handful of names that conjure up very strong images of people, attitudes, lifestyles and attitudes pretty much universally. I don't think Darren is the worst of those but it slips in that direction.

maitaimojito Fri 17-Mar-17 21:26:43

It just seems very 80's. I can't imagine it on a baby. Maybe it'll come back around in 30 years but I can imagine you might get a few raised eyebrows when introducing DS.

Imaginingdragonsagain Fri 17-Mar-17 21:27:13

Definitely not. Same as Wayne and Kevin.

blankpieceofpaper Fri 17-Mar-17 21:29:05

This is the umpteenth name thread you have posted - go look at a baby name book. Or anything, really!

user1471469504 Fri 17-Mar-17 21:29:18

If you're not sure about Darren, how about Darragh (an Irish name).

Imaginingdragonsagain Fri 17-Mar-17 21:30:12

Blankpieceofpaper- yep! thought the user name was familiar-loads of name threadsb

TheCakes Fri 17-Mar-17 21:31:56

Darren is a 40 year old bloke driving an xr3i.

Glossolalia Fri 17-Mar-17 21:32:11

It's very dated.

Kelly, Barry, Gary, Kevin, Wayne, Colin

Blossomdeary Fri 17-Mar-17 21:33:02

I knew a couple called Darren and Tracy.

But no - just don't saddle him with this.

user1489781128 Fri 17-Mar-17 21:33:20

Didn't know there was a limit to the number of posts I can post on here

msgrinch Fri 17-Mar-17 21:34:00

Just don't.

Pallisers Fri 17-Mar-17 21:34:28

Only if you refer to him as "our Darren".

whataflop Fri 17-Mar-17 21:34:33

My dp is called Darren and as theupsidedown said he has the chavy nickname of daz which everyone apart from his mum calls him.. he's late 20s and I much prefer Daz over Darren. I couldn't imagine calling my baby either but then again everyone has their own taste.

wobblywonderwoman Fri 17-Mar-17 21:35:57

I don't like it. I know a few bit I think it I'd dated.

YolandiFuckinVisser Fri 17-Mar-17 21:38:53

I used to fancy a boy called Darren even though I couldn't fancy his name
He must be about 50 now and probably a grandad.

KanyesVest Fri 17-Mar-17 21:44:16

I've a lovely friend called Darren. I wouldn't saddle a child with the name. Not yet time for its revival.
