Which do you prefer, Agnes Cecelia or Cecelia Agnes? (Sister to Margot as in previous post smile).

marmitecrumpets Tue 14-Mar-17 04:19:18

Cecelia

ToDuk Tue 14-Mar-17 04:24:39

Neither. Agnes will always be a nun's ne and Cecilia will make people dung Simon and Garfunkel or the Vamps depending on their age.

ToDuk Tue 14-Mar-17 04:25:05

Nun's name

WorldWideWish Tue 14-Mar-17 04:44:55

Cecilia (I prefer this apelling)

Awwlookatmybabyspider Tue 14-Mar-17 05:04:46

Cecelia. Cece would be a lovely nn.
Agnes is awful

Sophronia Tue 14-Mar-17 06:57:17

Love both! I slightly prefer Cecilia (this spelling)

tooclosetocall Tue 14-Mar-17 07:03:40

Same as Sophronia.

The middle e in Cecilia looks out of place to me. I think this a modern spelling I maybe wrong

onlyconnect Tue 14-Mar-17 07:04:33

Cecilia.
But prefer just Celia.

sosieso Tue 14-Mar-17 07:15:32

Definitely Cecilia (only spelled that way though). It is a beautiful, classic name. Good nicknames. I personally love the Simon and Garfunkle song so it wouldn't put me off. My good friend has a horse called Agnes, so I personally can't see it as a human name now! Also, Agnes is harsh sounding compared to Cecilia which rolls off the tongue.

Jooni Tue 14-Mar-17 07:30:48

I love Agnes!

But Margot and Agnes is very Despicable Me

Sixoclocknews Tue 14-Mar-17 07:32:21

I know a toddler Agnes and think it's really cute. Cecilia is very stuffy and old-fashioned.

Chatelherault Tue 14-Mar-17 07:33:05

Agnes is not a very nice name in my opinion; ugly looking and sounding (sorry).

Cecilia, on the other hand, is downright beautiful.

I would go with Cecilia Juliet.

CocoLoco87 Tue 14-Mar-17 08:18:45

Cecilia (spelt this way). In terms of nn, Cece is lovely but Aggie?...

MollyHuaCha Tue 14-Mar-17 08:25:20

Love these names, esp Agnes.

SuperBeagle Tue 14-Mar-17 08:34:39

Agnes is so homely.

I'm not a huge fan of Cecelia (also prefer the spelling Cecilia, as others have said), but it's infinitely better than Agnes.

NavyandWhite Tue 14-Mar-17 08:35:54

Cecily is prettier imo. Not keen on Agnes. It's in the same boat as Ada, Ida, Ivy and Evelyn.

ChippieBeanAndHorro Tue 14-Mar-17 10:59:55

Cecilia is beautiful.

I personally don't like the meaning but it's a really lovely name.

I really don't like Agnes, tbh.

EssentialHummus Tue 14-Mar-17 11:03:38

Cecilia with an i, or Celia.

KoalaDownUnder Tue 14-Mar-17 11:05:26

Cecilia (or Cecelia - don't care about the spelling). I love it, and the nn Celia.

Agnes is an ugly sound.

Joinourclub Tue 14-Mar-17 11:14:20

Cecilia is much prettier. But for me I can't say it with out singing 'you're breaking my heart' ( it's the Suggs version in my head). I like Agnes. I don't think girls names need to be pretty.

EssentialHummus Tue 14-Mar-17 11:19:28

Well, I've got the song on now grin

goldenrachita Tue 14-Mar-17 11:40:03

I like both and both sound really good with Margot. I would probably go with Agnes as I feel it has the same 'ungirly but extremely cool' feel as Margot. They would sound wonderful as a pair. I don't think Agnes is ugly at all. It's just not trendy. It has a bit of an edgy style to it, which is very good.

DramaAlpaca Tue 14-Mar-17 11:43:11

Agnes goes best with Margot, they sound really good together.

Cecilia (spelled this way for preference) is a much softer, gentler name than both of them.

I'll be singing that song all day now...

MollyHuaCha Tue 14-Mar-17 14:47:32

Agnes B. Chic and sophisticated.
