I actually quite like both. If you want a more uncommon name then i'd go for Asher.

Sophronia Fri 10-Mar-17 16:02:28

Asher. Jay feels a bit insubstantial.

OneSecondAfter Fri 10-Mar-17 16:06:13

Asher.

Another vote for Asher! smile

I've never really liked Jay and can imagine it sounding horrible in my accent some accents.

Asher

Definitely Asher.

I love the name Asher. I know two adult Jays and with with both of them it's a nn for longer J names, so to me it doesn't feel like a name in it's own right.

If I had to pick one, Asher, but neither are
my bag, sorry.

Asher is much nicer. I'd presume that Jay was just an initial for something if I heard it. Or short for Jason.

NuffSaidSam Fri 10-Mar-17 23:18:09

Asher.

Jay is nice as nn for something else, but not as a name on it's own.

ScarletSienna Fri 10-Mar-17 23:33:17

I know a teenager called Jay which isn't short for anything and I like it but prefer Asher for reasons people have mentioned above.

TheUnicorns Fri 10-Mar-17 23:33:51

Asher is a gorgeous name, have always loved it!

DramaAlpaca Fri 10-Mar-17 23:34:18

Of the two, Asher.

I think of Jay as more of a nickname.

KoalaDownUnder Fri 10-Mar-17 23:35:55

Asher, by default.

SleepFreeZone Fri 10-Mar-17 23:50:34

Asher. Love it 👍

Yika Sat 11-Mar-17 07:14:13

I like both but love Asher.

Mumzypopz Sat 11-Mar-17 21:10:41

Jay is short for Jason surely? Asher is horrible

ArriettyClock1 Sat 11-Mar-17 21:11:29

Both are horrid.

Izzyathome Sat 11-Mar-17 21:26:39

Not keen on Jay, as said above, to me it's the nn for Jason. Asher reminds me of 'brimful of asha' and I dislike the nn Ash. Too reminiscent of the awful name Ashley.
How about Archer?

SwedishEdith Sat 11-Mar-17 21:32:05

Like them both.

Archer? Why??

Xmasfairy86 Sat 11-Mar-17 21:34:07

Boy or girl?
I know a Jay, his name is Jay - not a nn. Never really see it as a nn but can see how others can
