Hi

what are peoples preference... we have Faye or Matilda for a girl and Angus or Albert for a boy

which ones please? No comments on any other names thanks, these are our final choices (been a battle narrowing them down!)

Matilda and Albert

Matilda and Angus. Angus is a cool name.

Matilda and Albert

Faye and Angus, but I like them all.

Faye by a mile.
Angus at a push.

They're lovely. I LOVE Matilda so would vote that and probably Albert. Not keen on Albie as a nn but Bertie is cute.

My worries with matilda is that it would be shortened to Tilly (which I really dislike)

Thanks for all your comments so far

If you don't like Tilly, go with Faye. Then you don't have to worry. I love Matilda too but DD ended up with it as her middle name for the same reason.

I like both boys' names but Angus is particularly handsome smile

Good luck!

Love Matilda - but don't like Tilly, and I think it's unwise to go for a name when you don't like a shortening or version of it, as you may find yourself fighting a loosing battle, or getting very annoyed with everyone.

I don't like Faye though- it's a weak name to me. The sound of it and the image it conjures.

Love Angus! manages to be cute for a baby and cool for a grown man. And Gus is good nickname.

Albert is too old fashioned-trendy for me. He'll disappear amongst all the Alfie's and Archie's and be easily identified as a 2010-2020 decade baby in years to come.

(Hoe you realy did want opinion!)

Matilda and Angus.
(Mattie/Tilda).

Neither Matilda I know gets Tilly. One is always Matilda and the other is always Mattie. It's not one of those "inevitably shortened" names. I think if you introduced her as Matilda or whichever nickname you prefer, people will go with that.

I prefer Matilda and Angus. I think Gus is such a great nickname. smile

thanks everyone. i was leaning towards faye and angus so these comments have all been very useful. im now thinking of using Matilda as the mn

Faye and angus. Matilda is very very popular.

SeveredPixieBits Tue 28-Feb-17 19:55:11

Faye and Angus. I don't know any baby Fayes... And about nine million Matildas.

Faye and Angus are fab names

Haven't met a kid called either of these but know several Matildas and Alberts.

agnes158 Tue 28-Feb-17 20:12:45

thank you everyone smile

HotDawg123 Tue 28-Feb-17 20:14:31

Matilda's are ten a penny these days
Faye is uncommon so I say go with that
Angus is ok if you're Scottish
Otherwise Albert

agnes158 Tue 28-Feb-17 20:32:19

we're not scottish but maybe that's why i like it? it'd be pretty uncommon name from where i'm from

Matilda and Albert

Faye and Angus!

Matilda/Tilly and Albert/Albie are quite boring due to overuse.

MerryMarigold Wed 01-Mar-17 08:34:11

Angus definitely. The girls, I don't mind either way. I think Matilda a bit, because Faye makes me think of 'fey'.
