I see a lot of posters suggesting a name has to sound good on a baby and a high court judge...especially for girls. It left me wondering what the actual female judges are called for inspiration

Anna
Judith
Sonia
Elizabeth
Nicola
Lucy
Beverly
Sarah
Vivienne
Sue
Geraldine
Ingrid
Jennifer
Maura
Bobbie
Juliet
Nerys
Finola
Margaret

I wonder what this list would look like in 30 to 40 years time ?

Great list. If you include judges past as well as present, there's also;

Joyanne
Rose

So that's why I never got the job!

That's a great and varied list - I wonder if Sue and Bobbie were nicknames or their full names?

Other than Bobbie, they are lovely, dignified, grown up names. I wonder if Bobbie is really Roberta, and is Sue really Susan, Suzanne or Susannah? I've never much liked Beverly, but I think the rest are really good names.

I think Bobbie is the full name (Bobbie Cheema-Grubb). Not sure about Sue.

Great list, good work OP!

DD has a pretentious, try hard, hipster name apaz but we made sure she had a decent high court judge style MN (actually listed above) in case she felt the need to use it.

I believe I ticked all the Mumsnet boxes in naming her 😁

Bobbie is how she was always known at the Bar but her real name is Parmjit-Kaur.

The list will reflect what middle class parents were calling their DC about 50 years before.

So the names in 20-30 years time wil, be the MC names from about 1990-2000. So I'd expect Eleanor (Ellie to her friends), Emily, Sophie, Olivia, Hannah, Lucy, Eliza, Grace, Alice, Phoebe, Lily and Chloe
