Looking for a nice unisex/boy-type name for a girl.

List at the minute:

James
Andrea - NN Andy
Adrian
Allison - NN Ally
Charlie
Alex

Also accepting things that don't begin with A Blush

Frances - Frankie
Charlotte - Charlie
Georgie

booellesmum · 22/02/2017 15:25

Robyn
Riley

AuntieStella · 22/02/2017 15:30

I think Alison looks better with one 'l'
And James is a boys name in UK, as is Adrian (girls version Adrianne or Adrienne - though of course Julian can be either)

Other suggestions:

Another A is Alexandra/Sasha

Or Joanna/Jo, Samantha/Sam/Sammie, Danielle/Dannie, Frederica/Freddie, Stephanie/Stevie?

NapQueen · 22/02/2017 15:32

Stevie
Frankie
Sam
Rowan
Riley
Jamie/Jaime

Beachedwh4le · 22/02/2017 15:50

Riley, Jamie and Rowan on the list thanks Smile

DH likes James/adrianna/Charlotte

Not sure about Charlotte because of the royal connection, but it's a cute name.

You've come up with loads more than I had! Flowers

Chris
Ronny
Vic
Freddie
I second Sacha/Sasha as a nice unisex name.

Beachedwh4le · 22/02/2017 15:55

Love Ted/teddy, but not sure about Theodora which for some reason makes me start singing wizadora, we adore-her!

Sacha immediately makes me think of Ali-G, but is really good with the SN

Phil - Philippa
Matt - Matilda
Jem - Jemima
Lou - Louise, Lucy
Olly - Olivia

minipie · 22/02/2017 16:03

I would suggest going with a more obviously female name for her official name (with a masculine nn) as will make it so much easier later in life when dealing with official stuff and schools etc. Or a truly unisex name like Robin.

Francesca/Frankie
Winifred/Freddie
Roberta/Bobby
Olivia/Ollie
Georgina/George

oxcat1 · 22/02/2017 16:04

Ashley and Lesley are both unisex.

Beachedwh4le · 22/02/2017 16:05

minipie that's a good point, and presumably if when she's older she hates her boy-ish name she can go back to a more girl-ish sounding one

OP posts:
minipie · 22/02/2017 16:07

Yes that too

Just thought of Katherine/Kit (I really like this one)

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 22/02/2017 16:07

Would Findlay work for a girl?

ExpectoPatronummmm · 22/02/2017 16:55

Dylan for a girl is super cute.

I'm not a fan of Adrian. It's horrible for a boy never mind a girl.

KeepCalm · 22/02/2017 17:22

I know a lovely Edith known as Edie.

My Dad always said I should have been Georgina/Georgia known as George lol

River is awesome! Love Dylan too

I think we're settled on James as a middle name (I'm not entirely convinced people recognise this as a female name)

I have a Harley, and a Taylor, we also liked Charlie. I think names which can be identified as female or male are brill Smile I also work with a female called Peta!
