nn possibly Millie.

I like floral names but many are becoming overused. Amaryllis is my second favourite flower (even I think Freesia is too out there)

Yay or nay?

It's a no from me, sorry.

I really liked this, for a middle name (we saw it on a lorry on the way to pick our adopted DD up so I may have been a bit emotional) Thankfully it wasn't an Eddie Stobart!

My DM almost wet herself laughing though when I mentioned it - so we chose something else that I also thinks DM doesn't like

I know an amaryllis but I think it's a dreadful name, sorry.

Positivitee Wed 22-Feb-17 12:16:03

A lot nicer than the majority of top 10 names for sure!

TheLivingAsheth Wed 22-Feb-17 12:19:23

I call my sister Amaryllis sometimes, although it isn't actually her name grin.

I like it. It can be shortened to Amy as well as Millie. Or Rilla.

My initial reaction was shock but actually I like it, and a good one for nicknames. Definitely prefer it to some of the trendier names currently on trend.

Millie sounds better.

MrsGB2225 Wed 22-Feb-17 12:30:28

Sounds a bit like an STI. Sorry!

MakeItStopNeville Wed 22-Feb-17 12:30:29

I used to know one. She was a right old cow! That's not very helpful, is it?! grin

needapaddle Wed 22-Feb-17 12:34:04

Makes me think of the song that Peter Kay covered for Comic Relief (sorry, still that song will now be stuck in my head all day!)

neonrainbow Wed 22-Feb-17 12:34:13

I think it's really pretty.

Sistafromanuthamista Wed 22-Feb-17 13:08:41

I think it's beautiful but I'd probably use it as a md. Something wonderfully glam like Romilly Amaryllis

MiniMaxi Wed 22-Feb-17 16:13:36

Ooh I like that!

SeveredPixieBits Wed 22-Feb-17 16:17:09

Too frilly and poncy for my tastes. I also thought of Peter Kay straight away!

ErrolTheDragon Wed 22-Feb-17 16:22:25

The song it brings to my mine is 'Welcome, Gentry' from Gilbert and Sullivan's Ruddigore ...'Come Amaryllis, come Chloe and Phyllis'grin- not sure I've come across it IRL. I think its one of those, if you love it go for it names.

picklemepopcorn Wed 22-Feb-17 16:23:46

No, sorry, too Peter Kay.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe Wed 22-Feb-17 16:24:02

It's like a Mills and Boons novel title.

indigo13 Wed 22-Feb-17 16:41:20

Love it. Also see Araminta. It doest take much for me to prefer any name over the current yawny top 20 but your choice is very nice

FartnissEverbeans Wed 22-Feb-17 17:14:50

I love it! It's awesome

headake Wed 22-Feb-17 17:19:51

Amaryllis is my second favourite flower

I like how it means something personal to you. I would have thought Mary for NN. Or Alice (Alyss).

TurkeyDinosaurs Wed 22-Feb-17 17:39:33

Sounds like Phyllis, so no.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Wed 22-Feb-17 17:39:50

No, sorry OP.

user99009960546 Wed 22-Feb-17 17:53:23

Ahhhh forgot all about this name, when I was about 9 it was my favourite and I was conceived I would name my future daughter this.... I didn't

MrsMeeseeks Wed 22-Feb-17 18:24:11

I love it. Not keen on Millie, though.
