Doesn't work for me. Wouldn't name my child after a country though.

It's a bit 'Restaurant chain' or football team. Do you have any connection to Italy? There are so many nice Italian names to choose from.

Don't do it

If it's the general sound that appeals, how about Thalia? I'd mishear Italia as that, I think.

It's a friend of mine who's considering the name. No connection to Italy. I've heard it only once as a name for a girl and thought it was odd, so said I'd ask here for the general consensus.

I think it's an awful idea.

Nope. I instantly thought of Bella Italia, and with so many of them around I'm sure lots of other people will too.

13 babies named Italia in 2015 (19 in 2013). That is a surprise!

That's the name of the wine i was drinking this evening.

It's not terrible or totally out there, but it's a strange choice especially with no link to the country. Talia or Natalia much better IMO.

Dreadful name

Reminds me of an airline. It's funny though, because Frances and Francesca are considered perfectly acceptable, also India and Erin.

Honestly I don't like it.
It's a bit too corporate branding rather than real name.

It's very Italia pizza; Discover Italia; Sky Italia; Telecom Italia.

Just no.

Don't do that to another human person.
