As a sister to Eli and Aphra?? (Yes this is my second thread this morning Blush)

We are finding girls names very difficult!

I'm thinking they all tie nicely together with a biblical theme, not that that is a must.

Sounds fine to me, though a bit similar to Aphra...possibly. I don't like themes though. Grin

I'm.getting tongue twisted saying those two names in my head. I'm saying things like Abita and Tapra, ect. No I wouldn't put those 2 names together, personally. Pheobe goes much better or to give you more biblical names.
Naomi
Hannah
Rebecca
Ruth

I think Tamsin would go better.

I love Tabitha but it really doesnt go with Aphra sorry

Does it matter if they don't 'go'? Confused

Absolutely. Sparkling. IMO, though. Its not really the fact that they don't go. Its not like having 2 completley different style of names eg Harriet and a Courtney. Its that they sound too alike and I think people would get mixed up saying them together.

I don't understand why it matters. You aren't welded to your siblings throughout life. Confused How many times will they be said together?

I only learnt of this matchy thing in 2011 when I joined MN. I had my DC in 1999 and 2002. It never occurred to me to match their names.

Love Tabitha, but not with your existing names.

Abetes · 14/02/2017 13:52

I think they are too similar too. Sorry!

Love Tabitha.
I agree with Sparkling that it doesn't really matter if sibling names 'go' or not. (Unless maybe if you had something like Alexandria and Jane.) FWIW I think Tabitha, Eli and Aphra sound fine together.

Yes the issue is that they sound too alike which would matter, but if it doesnt matter to you op then go for it

They're only similar if you mispronounce your th sounds surely though? Aphra and Tabiffa sound similar but Aphra and Tabitha don't (to me anyway)!

I don't mispronounce 'th' sounds. I just think they have a similar sound.

I didn't mean to imply you did reuset Smile!

I don't think they sound similar. Not enough to put be off using them together at least.

Report
reuset · 14/02/2017 18:56

No, I agree. I don't think it's similar enough to prevent using.

crapfatbanana · 14/02/2017 20:02

I think it's fine.

I think Tabitha is lovely and sounds fine with Aphra. I agree that it doesn't really matter if names 'go' or not, although having said that i think those three names do go!
