Sister to Autumn and Violet. What goes better? Olivia or Ivy? I think Olivia, but that's because they'll all be 6 letters/go up in syllables (2, 3 and 4!) Grin

I was going to say Ivy because they're all nature-related nouns.

Oh, that's very true!

Ivy. Olivia is nice but terribly boring now. And the theme is lovely without being twee.

I agree. Ivy sounds lovely with Autumn and Violet.

Ivy, a lovely name. Olivia is so err... vanilla! Sorry, it's just far too common a bit like Mary was 100 years ago.

In my baby groups I know no Olivia's but quite a few Ivy's if that sways you at all. I think both are pretty and both work.

Ivy is a beautiful name, less common and fits lovely with your other names.

Ivy is lovely and fits the best.

Another vote for Ivy! Lovely name and fits on well with the others.

Olivia is very bland imo

Ivy definitely.
Olivia is so overdone at the minute. Ivy sounds nicer with your other childrens names too.

I think Ivy works better. Also Olivia has been a top 5 name for several years whereas Ivy was about 40. As someone who grew up with the same name as a lot of my peers (6 in my year at senior school!) I'd

..opt for the less popular name.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it was about the My Sister the Vampire books. The central characters are twins called Olivia and Ivy, Olivia is human while Ivy is a vampire.

That aside they're both nice names but Olivia has been very popular for several years so my pick would be Ivy.

If you choose Ivy, you realise you will have to have a fourth girl to complete your beautiful four seasons set.

Summer or Rose.

Agree Olivia is very dull. I really like Autumn, Violet and Ivy but I would be put off by two out of three having a V sound if it was me

Report
indigo13 · 25/01/2017 17:27

Also Violet and Ivy have the 'eye' sound as well as V. There's something similar about them compared to Autumn! but it depends how fussy you are

I think both names are lovely! Personally I prefer the name Olivia, but I think Ivy goes better with Autumn and Violet.

I love Ivy. Olivia is a bit boring now, there are so many of them- Ivy goes better with your other dd's names too!

Olivia is prettier, but for reasons that Raines pointed out. I'd say Ivy

I think both names are really good.
What puts me off Olivia is its popularity at the moment. For that reason I'd pick Ivy...plus Ivy is one of my fave names. Plus 'Vee' is a cute nn. Also Ivy goes well with your other daughters names. Violet also would work really well.
