Quinn or Dolly
(64 Posts)I appreciate they are very different sounding names- What are people's opinions? Quinn potentially for a boy or girl.
Thanks
Hmm... I think Quinn is more boy than girl. It comes from Harlequin.
I like Dolly, but might still be associated with the sheep?
I love Dolly! It's fairly cutesy but strong at the same time.
Dolly is awful. Definitely Quinn out of your two choices.
Quinn!
Thank you all so far. Not my final 2 choices but wanted to gage opinions.
Have always loved the name Dolly but never thought of the sheep association
Don't forget Dolly Parton.
Dolly Parton and dolly the sheep are my first thoughts... quite like Quinn for either.
I'm sorry, but I initially read it as "Quim"
Quinn for sure, nice look and sound. Don't like Dolly at all.
I know a 5yo Quinn
Not Dolly
Girl Quinn BTW
Personally I dont like either. I know someone recently who naned a baby Quinn. To me its a second name. But I dont like Dolly either! So Im not much help at all really. However I dont really see why it matters what other people think?
I would go with Quinn, but I imagine it's going to become very popular.
Would any girl over the age of 5 want to be called Dolly?
Not keen on Quinn and definitely not for a girl.
How about Dolores (nn Dolly)?
Quinn is a great name for either sex.
Dolly is terrible, makes me think of Dolly Parton and is far too cutesy for my liking.
Dolly is truly awful.
Quinn is lovely but is feminine, IMO. I went to school with a female Quinn, there was a female Quinn on One Tree Hill, and of course there is Harley Quinn. I wouldn't be surprised if it surges up in popularity over the next two years or so.
That was my concern about Dolly- I can imagine it on a baby and toddler but not so much a teenager! Good to hear people's views. thank you all.
Dolly is a diminutive of Dorothy, so you could use Dolly and register as Dorothy and then she'll have the choice of Dolly, Dot, Dottie, Dory, Dorothy etc as she gets older.
Dolly short for Dolores perhaps?
I like Quinn, for a boy. Also Finn and Flynn.

Dolly is great as a nickname, don't like it as a full name.
Like Quinn for either boy or girl.
Why on earth would you call a strong independent woman "Dolly"?
Neither.
