Lily. I prefer Bella when it's short for something (Isabella, Arabella etc.)

Bella, whether is its shortened or stand alone. Lily is meh for me.

Lily is too common.

Pretty names but insanely popular. Forget Lily or Bella. They will be known as Lily X or Lily Y/ Bella A or Bella B.... etc. Tons where we are. 8 Bellas...

Both are very overused, sorry

I love both.

Probably would choose Bella because it's less popular where I am, although Lily is also declining in popularity here.

Lily

Both are beautiful though. My friend had a daughter recently -Lily Emmeline, which I thought was so beautiful!

I wouldn't worry about popularity myself, if you like it, go for it!

I love Lily, but not on it's own as it's too popular. I'd use it as a nn for Lilliana or Lilybeth or something.

Same with Bella - I wouldn't use it on it's own. Isabella is a bit too popular for me, so would probably use Arabella - Bella for short.

Lily and Bella are lovely names imo but they just seem a bit too popular at the moment. Having said that, Lily can be short for Lillian, Lilith or, as PP has mentioned, Liliana or Lilybeth.

The same goes for Bella. There are loads of pretty names that you can use that end in "bella" so that you can use it as nn but your DD can have an option of having a more formal sounding name when she's older ifyswim.

We have a Lily Isabella, which often gets shortened to Lily-Bella or Lily-Belle. Both lovely names but there are a lot of Lilys and Bellas around

Lily. Bella sounds more like a nn to me.

Defo Bella.

In my daughters year at school there's 5 Lilly's (out of 80 kids) and no BElla's.

I would have called my daughter Bella but it clashes with our surname
