Does it matter if a your initials spell a word? Our dd''s will potentially spell a word, nothing offensive or weird mind but just wondered if it could lead to teasing...

Someone pointed out to us on the way home from the registry office that DS's initals spell Raj, wasn't intentional but now I quite like it. I think as long as it's not a rude word you're fine

PurpleDaisies Thu 12-Jan-17 22:49:43

What's the word? That's the key thing.

SoOverPeppa123 Thu 12-Jan-17 22:51:41

Jam

My initials were the shortened version of my name so for example but not my name Samantha Angela Morrison. SAM. My mum did confess that they made suggestions like Beatrice Ursula BUM and things when naming me hmmgrin the long winter nights just fly by in my parents house.

That's quite clever Looksbetterwithafilter - BUM would have been pretty harsh.

As long as you're aware of it when choosing a name and don't pick anything with an insulting or rude word it should be fine

Jooni Fri 13-Jan-17 13:17:04

I think fine as long as it's not offensive or embarrassing.

Largemelons Fri 13-Jan-17 13:20:57

One of my DDs is DEB, another is LEB.
It's fine as long as not offensive. Jam is quite cute really.

My best friend's initials spell VAG.

She didn't notice until we pointed it out when she was 20.

JAM is probably fine. If you have another middle name that you like equally as much, then it probably would be the deciding factor in me choosing the other name over that one, but I wouldn't go changing it deliberately.

On initial coincidences, my initials, if you count which letter of the alphabet each initial is, spell out my birthday, so like JG for a birthday of 10/7.

TDmoocher Fri 13-Jan-17 15:29:07

I have a friend with the initials VAG too. That's what we call her......

Allthebestnamesareused Fri 13-Jan-17 15:31:56

Friends' daughter is FIB

Allthebestnamesareused Fri 13-Jan-17 15:32:40

LOL at VAG - that'd be awful.

I was going to be a WC until my mum realised and I ended up a JC

MiniMaxi Fri 13-Jan-17 15:33:17

JAM is fine and quite cute. We discussed the same topic and decided we would avoid BOOB and BOMB grin

Allthebestnamesareused Fri 13-Jan-17 15:33:24

Also friends with surname West considered Natalie until I said she'd be Nat West. They went with a different name!

twocockersarebetterthanone Fri 13-Jan-17 15:36:45

I'd rather be BOMB than JAM. Think JAM is terrible - sorry 😐

LiefieLiefie Fri 13-Jan-17 15:36:57

Ha moocher, that's what we call her too. Wonder if it's the same friend...

dingit Fri 13-Jan-17 15:37:28

Dh s initials would have been MAD if his middle name was Andrew, fortunately his parents changed their mind, but it would have suited him grin

Dd has a friend with FIG, and that's what they call her.

SquedgieBeckenheim Fri 13-Jan-17 15:41:23

We're expecting DD2, unless we change our minds, her initials will be BAM. I quite like that.
JAM is fine.

HardcoreLadyType Fri 13-Jan-17 15:41:34

My brother is JAM.

He was called "little jammy face" when he was a baby, but I don't think it's ever been an issue since. I guess he might not want a momgrammed briefcase (do people even have them, nowadays?) with JAM on it.

If it was SUK or DUM or something like that, I wouldn't do it, but JAM is quite innocuous, surely?

ilovewelshrarebit123 Fri 13-Jan-17 15:42:35

I'm a JAM and my DD is CAB never bothered me really!

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion Fri 13-Jan-17 15:43:49

JAM is fine, I think.

My mother's initials are BadMotherFucker. She hates me for pointing that out.

thatsthewayitgoes Fri 13-Jan-17 15:52:02

My daughter is JAM. She likes it!

ExpectoPatronummmm Fri 13-Jan-17 20:24:19

My daughters nearly ended up being FAB... which is fine but if she married a Mr T or Mr G it wouldn't be good lol
