My very best friend is a Melissa, so I'm biased, but I think it's a beautiful name due a comeback.

I prefer it to Melody. I only think of My Little Pony when I hear Melody.

Freedom perhaps you know the Melissa I know Smile She's lovely, and it's a lovely name.

Ooh I like it! I don't know any myself, especially no under 5s but it's definitely due a comeback. Prefer it to Melody, think it's much more timeless.

I prefer it to Melody.

However, DD is Clarissa which is kind of a similar style name (imo) so I'm probably a bit biased. I just like names like that ;)

Melissa for me is horrifically dated - in the sense that it's not been gone long enough to seem fresh again. I was born in the early 70s and was at school with several, along with the inevitable Carols, Karens, Gemmas etc.

Outing myself here. I have a Melissa, mid teens. We call her Millie for short, as I'm not keen on Mel and she won't answer to Missy Grin

She's not the only one at her secondary school either. So it's not completely unheard of.

I've always liked Melissa.

Millie is a good idea for a shortened version.
