Neither name is popular or commonly used at the moment, so even though 30+ years ago they may have been seen as "boring", now they're refreshing and a break from the current trend of Alfies/Olivers/Theos etc.

I have a David Matthew (now 18) and I like it! Everyone knows the names and how to spell them but no-one else has them.

I love them, I also have 1 of each. I havent found another David yet but my Matthew is 1 of 3 in his class and theres another 2 in year 1 so it's clearly making a come back. Lovely classic names.

Combo of my DH and DB's names, I like it. It's classic and won't date. Also passed the "could do any job" or "can you put it on a witness statement" tests (i.e. You can imagine Dr Matthew/Matt the bricklayer/Matthew Yourname QC/Matt the musician etc)
