Can I have a Summer Eve?

We are definitely set on Summer - DH and I both love it and it's the only name we can both agree on :) and Eve is a family name on both sides. Does it sound silly? Like you're saying Summer Evening??

I'm sorry but yes, it sounds silly.

Yes. But I quite like it.

It sounds like a cheap perfume to me, sorry.

I wanted to call DS Christian Guy. DH suggested Muslim Bloke, instead.

We went for something else, entirely.

You can, but you shouldn't. Sorry.

Eve is lovely, as long as it doesn't get the Evie treatment.

Eve wouldn't get Evie, as it would be the middle name :)

Will just stick to Summer I think! Other family name is Doris, really don't like it.

No, don't do it. Unless the choice is Eve or Doris, in which case Eve it is, imo.

Eve, Doris or no middle name :)

What about Eve Summer, but use Summer as the name she is called?

It works better in that order.

Many people go by a middle name.

HardcoreLadyType · 09/01/2017 12:43

Will Doris be offended if you don't use her name?

To be honest, I think doing Eve Summer and going by Summer is worse :( I think it would be more annoying. Thanks for the suggestion though, but Summer will be the first name :) why would Doris be offended? She's our baby!

I think it's absolutely fine.

it's about time Doris made a comeback...c'mon OP do the decent thing.

Summer Eve is just ridiculous though. But maye you could have a whole series of children.

Winter Afternoon, Autumn Dawn, Spring ...ummmm....errrr...Lunchtime?

Summer is really lovely. Don't have a middle name at all, they're pointless!

No. It's the name of a very famous brand of feminine hygeine products in the US. Smile

Summer Eve sounds like an Impulse fragrance.

Summer Evelyn?
Summer Evangeline?

why would Doris be offended?

I mean that if Eve and Doris are both family names, will Doris be upset that Eve is used, but not Doris?

That's a risk any time a family name is used. It's not a reason for choosing one over another.

I like Summer, Doris and Eve. I'm not crazy about combining any of them...

But a name like summer does need a middle name imo. So, Summer Doris or Summer Eve.

Both are fine :)!

It shouldn't work but I actually love it! My best friend's daughter is Summer but with no middle name. Didn't like it at first but it has grown on me.

Something to consider, though.

2 middle names? Summer Caitlyn Eve, for a fairly random example?

Or even Summer Doris Eve?

Report
IWantATardis · 09/01/2017 14:01

Summer Eve does sound more like part of a description of a summer evening than a name.

Report
stumblymonkey · 09/01/2017 14:01

I'm going for Summer Dove (part Doris, part Eve) Grin
