Baby names

Why am I so fussy?

Our ds was named fairly easily, we knew he was a boy from 20 weeks. He's Evan Christopher (Christopher is DH name).
Dd name did not come so quickly, we knew girl from scan but I was in denial and decided I hated every girls name. She eventually became Luna Amber.
Now dc #3 is due in March, we haven't found out sex. Every time we talk names we have the same problem. I appear to dislike all girls names Blush our shortlist has one name. Indiana, possibly two as I like Harper but worry it's too popular. Whereas boys names we've got lots of possibilities:
Boyd, Bode, Beau, Beck, Rhys etc

On top of that 3 of my friends are due in the weeks before me so it's the gauntlet of someone else picking one of the few names I like.

Help?! If it's possible.

I'm this way about boys names. There's only 2 I would consider and I have 5 friends/family due next year and as they are top 100 names there's a chance they'll be 'taken'

You have a start with Indiana, it's not completely futile.

Girls Names that I think are in a similar vein include

Juno
Saffron
Willow
Zora
Gaia

Thanks glitterous. I like Juno but DH has vetoed because it reminds him of the film with Ellen Page Confused he's not making my indecisiveness any better lol.

I really like Harper. It isn't overly popular where I live. I work in a primary school with an infant and juniors and don't know if a single one there.
I quite like Indiana although prefer India.
How about ....
Willow
Jasmine
Lola
Eden
Zara
Amelia

I really like Beau from your boy's list.
Mind you, I like Beau for a girl in a weird kind of way.

I know an India so that's off the list unfortunately.
DH had a cat called Willow, so although we both like the name it just reminds me of cats...
Eden again is lovely but ds is Evan so too similar.

See, fussy pain the the arse lol.

It's good to be fussy when you're choosing baby names! I had a long, long list of criteria when we were naming DS, we stuck to it and ended up with a brilliant name.

I also agree that girls' names are much harder. There is so much repetition around at the moment, all the most popular names are very samey.

Have you tried watching the credits of old black & white movies for inspiration?

I love Indiana, and I also know a girl called Beau so I could see that being workable.

What is it about Indiana/Harper that draws you, I might think of something similar.

Evan is our DS. Had he been a girl he would have been Fern. Not sure if that helps you though!
