according to The Tatler, here!

M0stlyHet Thu 05-Jan-17 11:44:12

I wonder whether we're meant to read the date-stamp on the article American fashion?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles Thu 05-Jan-17 11:44:27

Now that does look pretentious.

Lweji Thu 05-Jan-17 11:46:39

What a relief.
I thought I'd have to tell you not to.
What are the parents thinking? Just to piss off the child and whoever has to take their name on the phone?

"Peter, with a silent N. N-P-E-T-ER."

Just, why?

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface Thu 05-Jan-17 11:47:52

Maybe there's a new trend for names which look like typos?

Probably better than the deliberate misspellings.

testingname Thu 05-Jan-17 11:49:06

No wonder the Sloanes end up with nicknames.

www.tatler.com/news/articles/may-2016/why-sloanes-have-nicknames

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface Thu 05-Jan-17 11:49:30

Or maybe the patent has nasal issues and says every word with a 'Nee-uh' sound at the beginning?

There is surely a sensible explanation.

AmandaK11 Thu 05-Jan-17 11:49:32

Eh ... What? confused

Elbi Thu 05-Jan-17 11:50:00

Oh my. Npeter and Uxorious!

Although, I actually surprised myself by loving some of the others.........

Smitff Thu 05-Jan-17 11:50:03

If you had a son and a daughter you could cal them Rara and Ra!

This has to be a spoof though, seriously. Yak? Quail? Wigbert?!

img1.etsystatic.com/124/0/12178821/il_340x270.1036941967_8686.jpg first thing that came to mind

NavyandWhite Thu 05-Jan-17 11:54:12

Why?!?

It reminds me of dreadful Ptolemy!

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface Thu 05-Jan-17 11:58:06

How does one pronounce 'Ptolemy'? I've never heard it said out loud.

In my head it's 'Pah toll eh mee'. Is that wrong?

NavyandWhite Thu 05-Jan-17 11:59:02

Tolemy. smile

NavyandWhite Thu 05-Jan-17 12:00:02

I know one who goes by the name of Tolly which is quite cute but the full version written down looks wrong to me!

MrsHathaway Thu 05-Jan-17 12:00:02

Ptolemy is "toll-uh-me". Often actually called "tolly" because the Vair Posh don't use full names ever.

ViewBasket Thu 05-Jan-17 15:03:00

I like Lark, Idabelle, Ludlow, Victory and Zebedee smile

VeryPunny Thu 05-Jan-17 15:08:43

Oh my. People are taking that Tatler article seriously?

OliviaBensonOnAGoodDay Thu 05-Jan-17 15:11:59

I'm slightly delirious right now due to a viral infection but I think Quail is adorable.

Little Quail.

Heathen4Hire Thu 05-Jan-17 20:20:24

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/04/wigbert-npeter-figgy-tatler-lists-best-posh-baby-names-2017/

Truly hilarious. I think Debonaire and Victory are my favourites.

Different universe, these people.

If my kid was called Quail and went to my DD's current school, s/he'd be teased mercilessly.

ViewBasket Thu 05-Jan-17 21:07:51

VeryPunny no, not taking it seriously grin But while most of the names aren't to my taste a few were (surprisingly!)

Titsalinabumsquash Thu 05-Jan-17 21:14:06

Npeter 😂

If I have any more kids I'm going to call them something really regular like Brian or Joan and add in random 'silent' letters and then get pissed when people spell it wrong.

XbrianZ and Ksjoanrtw, heck I might just chuck on some punctuation and an emoji for shits and giggles!

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse Thu 05-Jan-17 21:38:03

I want boy twins so I can name them Mao and Yak.

1horatio Thu 05-Jan-17 21:51:43
