Have seen it mentioned in previous threads and was just wondering if anybody knew any female James' in real life. Have only ever seen it mentioned as a possibility here!

I don't know of any.
I like it for a boy though, not a girl.

No. Not a feminine name.

Nope never heard of it being used for a girl before. Nice name for a boy. Sadly I think the likelihood of a girl called James getting teased at school is quite high.

How about Jemima? Lovely name and a bit similar

Ryan Reynolds named his daughter James. That's the only one I know of

Someone famous has called their daughter James. I think they are stupid.

My cousins daughter is Jamie but that's the closest I've come across.

I actually like James for a girl! I think it is very pretty! However it will not be liked on mumsnet!

James is very pretty name for a girl

I've heard of a female Jamie/Jaime/Jayme but not James. Pretty though!

I know a Jamie but James is definitely a male name to me (I know dozens!).

i think it's a brilliant middle name for a girl, but i'm not sure about first name.

No.

But I have met dozens and dozens of boys and men called James. It's a very, very popular boys name round where I live.

No. One celebrity has named their daughter this - it doesn't make it a girls name.

I like it.
Rachel from friends mentioned this as a name she liked when she had Emma

Report
Lweji · 30/12/2016 19:59

Why? You'd only make her life difficult.

Pink just names her daughter Jameson

No. Unless you want the poor kid to be teased.

Pink had a boy..

I'm not a fan of giving established male names to girls. Might as well call her Alan, Frank, or Steve.

And no, I don't know any girls called James, thankfully. Not surprising though, given that the ONS has recorded 2 or fewer girls called James in all of the last 20 years.

I don't like it, seems very, I dunno, forced?

There's a female model called James, isn't there?

Report
Lilacpink40 · 30/12/2016 20:07

It's so popular for boys though, imagine having to correct people all the time?
Also what if the girl looked or sounded like a boy, it could make life stressful?

I'm not planning to use it. Just read a post previously about it having been used as a girls name.
