Darcie or Neve for girls name?

Ilovecaindingle Thu 29-Dec-16 20:13:23

Too many odd spelling of the other name!!

littleoysterslittleoysters Thu 29-Dec-16 20:15:35

Darcie looks a bit like Dacre

I'd go for Darcey

user1480267413 Thu 29-Dec-16 20:28:41

Darcey and Neve is actually, Niamh!! Pronounced Neve though.

Pluto30 Thu 29-Dec-16 21:01:52

I don't know whether to pronounce Neve like Niamh or Nev like the beginning of the name Neville...

I like the Niamh pronunciation, but I like the spelling Niamh more.

Don't like Darcie.

Sophronia Thu 29-Dec-16 21:09:51

Neve, as I don't like Darcie (rhymes with arsey!)

Marmalade85 Thu 29-Dec-16 21:15:22

Do you mean Niamh or a different name pronounced Ne-ve?

1horatio Thu 29-Dec-16 21:27:05

I like Niamh and prefer it to Darcie.

But I do love Darcy.

That's probably not helpful...

Stalingrad Thu 29-Dec-16 21:28:19

Darcie is going to date horribly. Like Tracey in the 80s.

Niamh is nice.

Awwlookatmybabyspider Thu 29-Dec-16 21:56:19

Darcie is gorgeous
. Ive never been a fan of Neve and especially Niamh. Ive never got names where the spelling makes no sense and doesn't match the pronunciation

charlestrenet Thu 29-Dec-16 21:59:56

It does match the pronunciation - it's just not English!

1horatio Thu 29-Dec-16 22:06:35

The spelling does make sense and does match the pronunciation!

LotsoNumbers Thu 29-Dec-16 22:07:49

Darcie is a horrible name and Neve isn't a name at's Niamh

Stalingrad Thu 29-Dec-16 22:10:40

If you don't like the traditional Irish spelling of Niamh then what about spelling in Neave like Neave Campbell? That makes it. Lear how it's pronounced.

ScarletForYa Thu 29-Dec-16 22:11:04

Neve or Niamh.

Darcie and Darcey is very, very popular with babies right now. It's going to peak and date.

I work with kids so i notice these patterns!

cheekyfunkymonkey Thu 29-Dec-16 22:11:35

Darcie if you are going to spell Niamh as Neve! I actually much prefer Niamh though.

caffelatte100 Thu 29-Dec-16 22:11:40

I like neither name, sorry.

Planetarymagic1 Thu 29-Dec-16 22:13:40

I like Niamh but please spell it properly.

reallyanotherone Thu 29-Dec-16 22:15:24

Neve Campbell, it's not spelled Neave.

I did come across a Neeve the other day.

Prefer niamh though as the correct spelling.

SausageSoda Thu 29-Dec-16 22:19:14

Neve is a recognised variation of Niamh and it is pronounced the same. I'm Irish so whilst in Ireland the majority are spelt Niamh there are some Neve's too.

I hate the name Darcie so would pick Neve out of the two.

ViewBasket Thu 29-Dec-16 22:30:06

Darcie, or Darcy with a y smile

TeachingPostQuery Thu 29-Dec-16 22:58:15

Niamh > Darcey > Darcie >>> Neve

Nonameyet1 Fri 30-Dec-16 21:15:43

Neve. And this spelling is absolutely fine if you are not Irish (or even if you are)

Jooni Sat 31-Dec-16 09:58:06

Neve is nice. I usually agree about alternative spellings but for some reason this is one I really like.

Darcie/Darcey/Darcy is extremely popular at the moment and one of my least favourite names ever. I just don't get the appeal at all!
