Christmas Day baby - Caspar?

Hi all Smile

DS2 decided to make an early appearance on Christmas Day! For the majority of the pregnancy he was going to be named Felix Caspar. Given the date of his arrival we decided to swap the names, but I'm having doubts - I'm slightly annoyed DH was pressuring me so much right after giving birth to make a decision (he wasn't trying to be mean, I think just excited and wanted to announce Hmm) I'm considering changing his name to something a little less 'out there'....already on the ward we're getting the 'that's....nice' response which is worrying me. What do you all think, is it too 'odd'? I love that it has the connection to Christmas but I also don't want the poor boy to hate us when he gets older. It would be slightly awkward to change as all family/friends have been told, but not the end of the world. We've agreed he doesn't look like a Felix, other 'safer' options we had are Hugo, Arthur or Alfred. Help!

Caspar/Casper Felix and Felix Caspar are both lovely names, less common yes but not 'odd' or out there. If you like Caspar use it, I would Smile

And congrats on the arrival of baby, hope you're both doing well Flowers

DH is an obscure variant of Casper/ar so he's had a lifetime of spelling his name out, but it's a lovely name.

If you like it, choose it.

I love the name Caspar! One of the three Kings as well. I love you other suggestions as well, but if you are worried about Caspar being too different, I think the others are in the same league (personally I love names like that).

I'm not religious so wouldn't get the Xmas connection to Caspar?

It's an ok name, are you sure you love it? If not, it's still ok to change, you can tell friends and family you were both high on G&A first time round!

Or choose Arthur and claim it was an autocorrect error Xmas Wink

I love both names!! They were both in my top 5 for our DS born last month!! Sorry, that doesn't help you much.

Well, if we ever have another son, he'll probably be Caspar. And I think having the meaning behind it makes it even nicer, so I'd go with that.

Love it! Had no idea it was a wise man's name. Use it.

frusso variations of the same name I think? He's known by either name.
Caspar's a super name OP. Lots of people won't immediately jump to a Christmas connection. I'd go for it.

I love Caspar, and I think it's perfect for a Christmas Day baby. Ignore everyone else on the ward. Caspar Felix is an awesome name!

Three Wise men were Caspar (Gaspar is the Indian spelling-where he originated from), Malchior and Balthazar.

A friend of mine has two sons, one named Felix and one named Caspar! How funny you chose the same two. I like both (although DH always adds "the friendly ghost" when we speak about Caspar... Obviously to no one except me, I am the receiver of all his shit jokes) Grin

How lovely to have a Christmas baby - congratulations!

Caspar is a lovely name - I knew a grown-up Caspar and it didn't seem at all odd or unusual. (I think Hugo is a bit more out-there actually, but still a nice name.)

I'd probably go all-out Christmas and call him Noel Smile

Thank you for all your lovely comments! Still not allowed home due to various complications and missing DS1 like crazy so you've made a very hormonal woman happy Smile Caspar Felix it is!

Caspar is a fantastic name and great for a Christmas baby Smile I think Caspar Felix flows better than Felix Caspar. Hugo, Arthur and Alfred seem quite tired compared to Caspar. I don't know any little Caspars.

Congratulations! Flowers
