I love the name Gabriel. I hate Gabe though. What else can Gabriel be shortened to?

Gabby? Gabs? There really isn't a nice short version that I can think of.

The Gabriel I know (pronounced the French way not the angel way) is known by family as Gabgab. Probably not very helpful I appreciate

In Ireland it's traditionally shortened to Gay or Gaybo.

Though modern families would probably encourage Gabe, lol.

I know two Gabriels. The 70something yo has always been Gabby AFAIK, whereas the teenager is often called Gav/Gavvie by his family, or Gabe by his friends.

If you don't like Gabe. Avoid Gabriel.
As he might want to use Gabe himself, and you won't be able to stop him. It'd be his name.

Rel? I've heard of someone called Ariel shortening their name to Rel, I think it's nice.

And so many other nicknames already suggested above.

However, it's quite likely that his colleagues and friends would call him Gabe. And if he doesn't object to this there's nothing you can do to change it.

I think it'd be hard to avoid Gabe (which I love!). However, the Gabriel's I know are just Gabriel mostly. Great name!
