I like it.

I would've loved it as a 14 year old balletophile.

Now? Not so much!

Yes for a little girl. But you are naming a teenager, a middle aged woman and an old woman as well. So- maybe not.

Yes! Lovely

Yes I like it in theory but suspect that when older they will change their name rather like my Mum who has been known as Lyn for the past forty plus years rather than Eunice.

I love the Swan Princess so just for that yes

choppolata · 21/12/2016 23:51

I think spy rather than swan, either way I like it!

Lovely.

But I also like Odile, Ottilie, Ottilia.

I do think I prefer Ottilie/a, tbh. Sounds less pincess-y and a bit more grownup imo.

Nice name.

Lovely. I know an adult odette and she is a strong, independent, successful, confident woman and it really suits her. I don't think of it as a particularly childish name.

I love it was on our initial list for our dd's. Partly because of the ballet connection partly because one of the most wonderful women I've ever known has that name. Personally I think it works for all ages.

Seriously strange coincidence, was listening to a podcast yesterday and woman was called odette, I thought how lovely it was.

I think it would depend on the baby - it's a very strong sounding name in my opinion and would need to suit the little person when you see their face. But in principle, I like Odette as a name.

Lovely name! Beautiful and not overused.

Staranise123 · 22/12/2016 07:18

I don't find it strong sounding at all, i find it very feminine esp the ette ending.

Love it. It was on my list. Strong and elegant. Etta for short

I think a name can be both strong and feminine, strong doesn't necessarily have to mean masculine.
