Odette for a little girl, yes or no?

AngelaKardashian Wed 21-Dec-16 21:18:27

I like it.

Blacksox Wed 21-Dec-16 21:20:35

I would've loved it as a 14 year old balletophile.

Now? Not so much!

AnInfiniteOceanOfLight Wed 21-Dec-16 21:31:11

I like it

It's gorgeous and I considered if for my DDs.

Beautiful smile

Yes for a little girl. But you are naming a teenager, a middle aged woman and an old woman as well. So- maybe not.

bobbinpop Wed 21-Dec-16 23:44:35

Yes! Lovely

PlymouthMaid1 Wed 21-Dec-16 23:47:02

Yes I like it in theory but suspect that when older they will change their name rather like my Mum who has been known as Lyn for the past forty plus years rather than Eunice.

ProudBadMum Wed 21-Dec-16 23:49:40

I love the Swan Princess so just for that yes

choppolata Wed 21-Dec-16 23:51:38

I think spy rather than swan, either way I like it!

Lovely.

But I also like Odile, Ottilie, Ottilia.

I do think I prefer Ottilie/a, tbh. Sounds less pincess-y and a bit more grownup imo.

MollyHuaCha Thu 22-Dec-16 00:34:48

Nice name.

WispyWindy Thu 22-Dec-16 00:39:05

Lovely. I know an adult odette and she is a strong, independent, successful, confident woman and it really suits her. I don't think of it as a particularly childish name.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints Thu 22-Dec-16 00:44:02

I love it was on our initial list for our dd's. Partly because of the ballet connection partly because one of the most wonderful women I've ever known has that name. Personally I think it works for all ages.

Diamondsandpurls Thu 22-Dec-16 00:52:09

Seriously strange coincidence, was listening to a podcast yesterday and woman was called odette, I thought how lovely it was.

WyeNot Thu 22-Dec-16 00:54:36

I think it would depend on the baby - it's a very strong sounding name in my opinion and would need to suit the little person when you see their face. But in principle, I like Odette as a name.

Staranise123 Thu 22-Dec-16 07:17:34

Lovely name! Beautiful and not overused.

Staranise123 Thu 22-Dec-16 07:18:54

I don't find it strong sounding at all, i find it very feminine esp the ette ending.

thedragonflyinn Thu 22-Dec-16 07:26:01

Very pretty

TynesideBlonde Thu 22-Dec-16 07:45:25

Love it. It was on my list. Strong and elegant. Etta for short
