Ideas for twins based on our shortlists

MRSJLP13 · 15/12/2016 09:38

So my husband and I are finally expecting and just found out we are having twins! We have short lists for both genders but I don't know which names sound best paired in a twin set. Ideas and suggestions would be most welcome Smile

Girls:

Ada
Etta
Zara
Bridget
Annabelle
Clementine
Luella

Boys:

Gabriel
Rafael/Raphael
Beau
Hugo

I'm leaning towards Bridget and Luella for two girls, Etta and Gabriel for B/G and Rafael and Hugo for two boys.

I really love Ada as a name but don't love it with any of the boys names that we like so far, what would you pair Ada with for a B/G twin set?

Open to other name suggestions too, our last name is a fairly standard double barrelled name ending in 'er'

Your post is about names but from reading it I sense that this is brilliant brilliant news for you and your husband. I'm a complete stranger, coming over all tearily happy for you, but with not much to help answer your question.

Congrats! Love your name choices. If you like Ada I would pair it with Beau

I would just go for the names you love and not worry too much about whether they "go" together. They may be born as twins but they will have individual identities as they grow up.

Congrats! I like Luella and Clementine for girls and Raphael from your boys suggestions. Or how about Rufus or Quentin?

Many congratulations OP 💐
I would pair Ada with Ralph.
Bridget and Luella sound delightful.
I also like Etta and Beau, as I'm not overly fond of Gabriel.
Boys, Hugo and Ralph.
Some suggestions ;
Tessa and Wren
Hebe and Ida
Rex and Leo
Benedict and Dominic

I love Clementine and Annabel. I'm not keen on any of the boys names particularly. I don't think you need to worry about how they sound together, apart from not having them sound too similar.

Many many congratulations MrsJLP! That's lovely news, and like others, I can sense the joy from your post. My DTs are 5 and such a joy, it's an incredible adventure!

I think you're wise to think of whether they 'go together' as well as loving both names individually - you'll be saying them together a lot and in my opinion it's better to have names that sound nice together than ending up saying 'the twins' the whole time.

I really like all your names but in terms of pairings I'd personally go with the following, I think the key is not to have the same sound at the end of the name. Are you thinking of middle names too?

B/G: Zara and Hugo
G/G: Bridget and Luella or Annabelle and Zara
B/B: Gabriel and Hugo

Huge congrats, OP. How exciting!

Our tastes overlap, but there's a lot I wouldn't pick on your list. Personally, I'd have:

G/G: Zarah & Annabel (those spellings to even out the number of letters)
G/B: Annabel & Raphael
B/B: Gabriel & Raphael (both angels)

Thanks so much everyone. It's not so much that I want the names to match, I just want them to sound harmonious together Smile

Yes we are thinking about middle names too, Catherine and/or Mae for a girl and George and/or John for boys as they are family names.

Love the suggestions of Rufus and India. I also love Harriet but my husband has already said no way to that one!

Stick an H on the end of Adah, and it's Biblical (the first the wife of Lamech, the second the wife of Esau), so would pair perfectly with Gabriel and Rafael in that respect.

Absolutely love Etta, that's my saved name if I'm lucky enough to have another dd. (Sorry, know I'm not commenting on twin names!)
