So I've liked to name Imogen for years!! My first daughters dad hated it so couldn't give her the name, 6 years later I'm expecting baby number 2! My partner said he like Imogen as he knows I've always wanted it....I love that Imogen can be shortened to Immy and would definitely shorten it on a daily basis but now I am going off Imogen and think the name is a bit of a "harsh/hard" name for a baby 🙈 But I will want to use Immy as I LOVE LOVE it! I can't think of any other name that you can shorten to it though sad sad x

My sister's best friend is Imelda which I've always liked as a name. But if you feel that Imogen is too harsh for a baby then that may be too. For what it's worth I think Imogen is a beautiful name at any age- plus if you shorten it when she's little then you essentially remove the 'too harsh' problem.

I suppose Kimberly, Simone could work along the same lines as Alexander can be shorted to xander ie it doesn't have to be a name starting with Im

basically anything with a vowel and an 'm'

Actually, even if you decide to call her Frances, her nickname can still be Immy. Or you could just call her Immy

MoosicalDaisy Mon 12-Dec-16 12:14:06

Imbria

SpunkyMummy Mon 12-Dec-16 12:54:29

Btw, I agree with the people that say Immy doesn't need to have a connection to the name on the birth certificate.

Cordelia nn Immy. Blair nn Immy. Clementine nn Immy.

That would be cute as well.

Imogen isn't harsh or hard for a baby by the way - you've loved the name for years, so go with it! You'll call her Immy when she's a baby anyway smile

MummyTo1TTC2 Mon 12-Dec-16 13:37:39

Thank you everyone I love Imani and Meilani but my partner still loves Imogen he thinks I come up with weird names grin xx

MummyTo1TTC2 Mon 12-Dec-16 13:38:57

You have a good point ineedbanofee I do think I may regret it if I don't go with Imogen after all this time x

AnnetteKertan Mon 12-Dec-16 15:48:00

Imhotep wink

Oysterbabe Mon 12-Dec-16 20:53:50

Just call her Imogen. She won't be a baby forever so it's silly to give her a very cutesy name.

SausageSoda Tue 13-Dec-16 10:07:14

I'd just call her Imogen if you've loved the name for years and I don't think it sounds to harsh/hard for a baby especially if you're going to call her Immy anyway.

ShowMeTheElf Tue 13-Dec-16 10:08:54

Imogen isn't harsh..it's gorgeous and can also be shortened to Mog which is sooo cute!

Loafingaround Tue 13-Dec-16 10:26:34

Immy is the most sickly, twee nn I've ever heard OP, please reconsider.
