I say it with 3 syllables, but it's supposed to only be 2? confused

Besplendour Mon 28-Nov-16 23:22:48

To me it's WILL-yum. I don't have a particularly RP accent though.

heymammy Mon 28-Nov-16 23:23:35

CondensedMilkSarnies Mon 28-Nov-16 23:24:27

I have no idea if that's correct or not
I like it said Will e am (if that's how you say it) lovely name

wwoonn Mon 28-Nov-16 23:24:37

DH is Welsh and says Will-yum, but I'm from Kent, if that makes any difference grin

CondensedMilkSarnies Mon 28-Nov-16 23:25:38

DelphiniumBlue Mon 28-Nov-16 23:25:49

DramaAlpaca Mon 28-Nov-16 23:26:29

I say it with three syllables.

wwoonn Mon 28-Nov-16 23:26:42

Obviously not that then grin

Permanentlyexhausted Mon 28-Nov-16 23:26:42

Will-ee-um. It definitely has 3 syllables when I say it.

EllenJanethickerknickers Mon 28-Nov-16 23:27:24

I was Williams once upon a time and I say it with 3 syllables, Willy um.

PinkiePiesCupcakes Mon 28-Nov-16 23:27:36

Will-ee-um.
I'm a midlander / northern type though.

AmyInTheBoonies Mon 28-Nov-16 23:27:58

Three syllables for me. Will-ee-um.

EBearhug Mon 28-Nov-16 23:28:26

Wil-ee-Um or Will-yum.

chatnanny Mon 28-Nov-16 23:29:14

Will yum here. (West Country roots).

imnervous Mon 28-Nov-16 23:30:06

Both DH and I say Will-e-yum. I'm originally from the north and DH is from Surrey

EstelleRoberts Mon 28-Nov-16 23:31:14

Will-e-yum. I'm from London.

CondensedMilkSarnies Mon 28-Nov-16 23:31:48

Actually the more I say it out loud I think I add a very quick ee in the middle

TinselTwins Mon 28-Nov-16 23:31:58

Will-Yam.

I thought everyone did confused.. just me then?

ShatnersBassoon Mon 28-Nov-16 23:32:17

Three syllables. I have a friend called William, and he doesn't like being called Will-yum.

Ontopofthesunset Mon 28-Nov-16 23:35:09

It's sort of in between Will-yum and Will-ee-yum. It's a very short, almost elided middle vowel. It's not three distinct syllables.

Bambambini Mon 28-Nov-16 23:35:16

2 syllables Will- yum. The second syllable is a bit drawn out with a bit of a ye though.

IneedAqueenMortificadoNickname Mon 28-Nov-16 23:35:23

Mostly Will I Am but when I'm being serious it's will ee um

lottiegarbanzo Mon 28-Nov-16 23:35:27

Will-ee-um but the ee is very short.

Will-yum makes me think of Clarrie Grundy in the Archers and her 'country bumpkin' accent.
