I like Sylvie. My mil is Sylvia so I would never use it but I do think Sylvie is lovely. I think you'll inevitably get sylv as a shortening though which is not so lovely.

My DD1 is a Sylvie.

I think Sylvie is a name for all ages whereas Sylvia takes a bit of growing in to.

Much prefer Sylvie, it sound cute for a little one and then sophisticated for someone older. Although it is only one letter out, Sylvia seems much older to me and reminds me of old ladies

Sylvie is nice but Sylvia is nicer again. Plus I think Sylvie is an old lady name in France. But not old lady chic. I do like it though!

Sylvia.
You can always call her Sylvie for short but she's got the standard name there for when she prefers.

It's not a name that would make my short-list, but I think I prefer the Silvia spelling - the Ys, Vs and Ls make it seem quite sharp.

Regardless, I would go for the 'a' ending, and use the other as a nickname - more options. It also seems like a better name for an adult IMO.

Sylvia. I love it and wanted it for DD but DH vetoed it. He thinks Sylvia and Lydia are old-lady names.

Sylvie. Sylvia doesn't sound as fresh.

My DD is Sylvia but Sylvie for short. So she's got both options but still has the suffragette name as her 'real' name!
