Beautiful and under used name

Yawninghippo Mon 21-Nov-16 18:28:59

Do you think it's particularly popular? I'm trying to avoid anything very or middlingly popular.

DeleteOrDecay Mon 21-Nov-16 19:05:55

I don't think it's popular, I don't know anyone, or know anyone who knows someone of that name iykwim.

LottieDoubtie Mon 21-Nov-16 19:08:20

I haven't come across one in the last 15 years so no I'd say not popular.

I love it though and it's definitely on my list of girls names for my hypothetical daughter.

EsmesBees Mon 21-Nov-16 19:08:32

Really like it. The only thing that stopped me calling dd Felicity was that I didn't like any of the nicknames.

Allalonenow Mon 21-Nov-16 19:11:35

It's a lovely name, not over popular, not in the top ten last year.

MrsChrisPratt Mon 21-Nov-16 19:12:17

It's not popular at all. I know and both are very well-to-do. Bear in mind she may be called Fliss or Flic which you may not like

crayfish Mon 21-Nov-16 19:16:16

I really like it and have never ever met a single one, so it certainly isn't popular where I live!

MissisBee Mon 21-Nov-16 19:21:04

Lovely name

Iamcheeseman Mon 21-Nov-16 19:22:25

I'm a teacher and I've only known one in 8 years.

Yawninghippo Mon 21-Nov-16 19:28:21

I like Fliss or Lissy for nicknames so I'm happy with that. I'm pleased it's not too popular, I've only ever liked really unusual or downright odd names, but DP would prefer something a little less mental so been trying to find something that fits us both. smile

rubberducker Mon 21-Nov-16 19:34:04

I love it. I only know 1 (3 yrs old), no nickname for her at the moment but I really like fliss.

Nuttypops Mon 21-Nov-16 19:34:42

I like it, have only taught 1 in the 7 years I have been teaching. DD, aged 2, does have a friend at nursery called Felicity and I know another little girl born a few weeks ago who is also a Felicity so I wonder if it may be becoming more popular though.

Joinourclub Mon 21-Nov-16 19:36:55

Very lovely. Never taught one in 13 years of teaching, though I do now know a one year old Fliss.

strongswans Mon 21-Nov-16 19:42:53

Lovely! I have know of 2, a 4 year old and a lady in her 30s who goes by Izzy. Its not overly popular. I would use it!

Yawninghippo Mon 21-Nov-16 21:45:19

Think that's decided it then! Thank you all!

LittleFilly Mon 21-Nov-16 23:52:38

Fab name, Hippo. Energetic and a bit jolly hockey sticks (in a good way).
It's on our long list (and thinking of adding it to my short list grin).
Both Flick and Fliss are good nns.

I don't know anyone called Felicity in my 43 years; closest classy name- I knew a Penelope when i was 7.

Go for it, i bet the teachers will be delighted to have a child they can pronounce...

I love it. I knew three at school but have not met one since. I also love the way it looks written down. Felicity. Go for it!

I also love Verity which is similar
