We are struggling to come up with a name that works with Sheffield for first baby due in 3 weeks.
We like the sound of Eliza Mirae Sheffield (Mirae is pronounced Mi-ray) but I'm still not 100% on the first name. What do you think of it?Smile Any suggestions please?
We are trying to find a name that isn't too common in England!
Thank you!
Anj x

I'm a big fan of the name Eliza and think it goes fine with Sheffield.

For a minute when I read the first sentence I thought you were saying you had another child called Sheffield, and I was about to implode Grin

Eliza is lovely. It isn't that popular, but probably round number #50 in the top 100.

It's timeless and can also be shortened etc.

Great choices, I'd stick with them.

(I heard the name Heidi being called while out and about the other day; not many of those around).

I love Eliza, going to pinch it for my list.

Also love Eloise, Marceline and Imogen.

Wow I thought you had a child already called Sheffield! That would be unique. I love Eliza and think with Sheffield as a surname is fine.

If you like it go for it. They're pretty names. Not sure if Sheffield is pretty, I've only been there once but it was Mrs Cameron's maiden name.
You could use Elizabeth as a first name but always use the shortened form of Eliza, but Eliza is fine.

I like Marceline! Thank you very much!
Wow, I didn't expect so many positive responses!

I read it as first child Sheffield too at first! But, I kid you not, I have come across a girl called Manchester.

I like both names but isn't Mirae usually spelled Mireille? I'd go with the usual spelling personally.

Eliza Mirae is cute, she'd be a lucky girl to have that name.
But - If it were me naming her, I'd probably choose Elizabeth Mireille

Love Eliza.
It is definitely becoming more popular, but it's not in the top 10 yet Smile

Eliza Mireille goes v well together (sorry can't bring myself to spell it your way, but the sound of it is lovely!!)

Thank you so much everyone. Eliza Mireille it is then. Feels like a weight lifted as we've considered so many. I hope our traditional families will be happy with our choices. XWine

Love the name Eliza. Great choice! I'd have it on my list, but DH not keen.
Less sure about the middle name Mirae. Quite like Miriam, which is similar.
Good luck with the little one!

Sometimes Liza or Liza lizard (she is still only 21 months old)but never Liz as my daughter would be annoyed with that. Of course when older she may like Ellie, Lizzie or anything else.

Thank you everyone. So good to have positive feedback as this little ones got it for life! Not sure whether to spell middle name the French way or my own way that seems simpler to pronounce, Mirae. Will have a think. Thank youuuu!

Spell it your own way OP, think most people will then pronounce it correctly.
