That makes me think of the final snippets in the first Bridget Jones film where Daniel Cleaver is in a bar with a cross-dresser who says "my name's Alan".
Sorry.
I don't think she'd thank you

Ooh Good God no. For a boy I'd say its retro vintage and refreshing, but for a girl it's awful. How about Alana

ZoFloMoFo · 18/11/2016 15:08

God no. Whether it's for a girl or boy. Just no.

SausageSoda · 18/11/2016 15:14

Go on, I dare you. Highly unlikely you would actually do this hopefully

If we can have girls called James, then we can have girls called Alan. Go for it OP.

I prefer Malcolm or Bernard.

Norman?

Manumission · 18/11/2016 15:25

Oh for a girl.

In that case go for it. Definitely. Very pretty and timeless. Equally good on a little girl or a grown woman. Ditto dinner lady or barrister. Good choice.

My daughter's favourite teddy is called Alan, I always assumed Alan was a boy teddy but I didn't consider Alan could be a girl. I will check after nursery.

I don't think enough girls are called Graham.

Grin No! Alana/Alannah

Report
Normandy144 · 18/11/2016 16:44

Noooo! It's not even a nice boys name. Please don't. Alana/Alannah are perfectly lovely female versions of Alan, so I'm puzzled as to why you feel you want to use Alan.

I prefer Bert.

Nothing says 'high achieving, elegant lady' like Bert does.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 18/11/2016 16:53

Squoosh as long as it is short for Norbert!
