As a nn for Francesca, what do people prefer, Frankie or Cesca (pn Cheska)?

Frankie, Cesca sounds like a brand of pop you'd find in a forrin supermarket. I also like Fran.

You could have Chessie. I know a lovely Francesca who shortens to Chessie. It's a bit softer than either Cesca or Frankie.

How about Chess?

Split the difference and go with Cheskie!

I do like Chess and Chessie, DH has started calling her Cesca though and I'm a bit unsure about it. I kind of half like Frankie but feel it's not that 'pretty'. I don't like Fran so want to establish a nn early on to (try to) ensure that doesn't happen!

Creature I have heard of people using Cheskie Grin I have also heard of Essie but it reminds me of nail polish

That's my name. When I was little I was Frannyanny, in my teens it was Franny, I've always preferred Francesca though. I'd choose Frankie over Cesca, sounds cooler. A lot of people shorten it just to Fran.

Franca? Cheska is the name of a pretty popular youtuber (Cheskaleigh) so good association. Dislike Frankie.

I know a Frankie and a Chessie, both lovely shortenings

One of my schoolfriends was a Francesca, we called her Frannie or Frank.

I really like Fran or Francey. Beautiful name. I think it's quite sweet if you have different nicknames, call her what you like. Have fun with your little one.

Like them both but Cesca marginally more. I absolutely LOVE the name Francesca. If I had my time again, grown up DD would have been called that :)

I love Frankie. It's the sort of name that would make me instantly inclined to like someone

I'm Francesca
My mum wanted people to shorten it to Franca if they had to

I've been known as fran by everyone despite me introducing myself as Francesca as I hate fran

I was named Francesca just so that I could be called Frankie for short (my parents loved Frankie but wanted to give me the option of both). I only use Frankie and love it!

i like frankie, i think it's super cute and very 'pretty' but also cool... i liked it as a name in its own right if one of ours had turned out to be girls.
i've also heard cesca, chessie, fran.... of these cesca would be my preferred i guess.
francesca is a great name for nicknames as she can have cesca as a small child, frankie as a teen (as it's a bit cool) and fran as an adult if she likes :)

I love Francesca. It's so beautiful. If I had to shorten it i'd go for Cheska/Chessie. Sorry but I think Frankie is really common

I like Francesca very much (though am in Italy where there are 17 in every class- seems like! so it would never have been an option) I would try not to shorten it as it's so lovely as it is.

I also think, tbh, that nicknames evolve naturally. You can call Frankie or Cesca all you like at home, but when she's 20 she'll probably be a Fran, or a Francesca. Or if she moves in "posh" circles, then Cesca.

I have to agree that Frankie is the not posh option.

In Italy the automatic shortening (which I loathe) is Fra. (Frankie just wouldn't happen, and Ces (Ches) is slang for toilet) Very very old Francescas are Franca.

My friend's sister had a Francesca (in the UK) when I was a teenager and I thought it was so lovely. Still do.
