The title says it all. Ds2 is 4 days old and we don't have a name. I'm too tired to make decisions anymore! Dh's suggestions are,

Or are they all terrible?

ShanghaiDiva Wed 02-Nov-16 04:51:45

Personally, I don't like any of them - sorry.
Would choose Winston if I had to have one of the three. Congratulations on the birth of your son!

LolaStarr Wed 02-Nov-16 04:52:50

Honestly? I don't like any. Winston is the best of a bad bunch. Sorry!

Cockblocktopus Wed 02-Nov-16 04:53:38

Yes. Terrible.

Winston the best of a bad lot.

Foxtato Wed 02-Nov-16 04:56:03

I wouldn't choose any. If I had to choose then Winston. The other 2 are awful and Winston is 'ok'.

1. English Bulldog
2. Fawlty
3. American

None of them are great. Winston is the best of the bunch though. I know two human Winstons, so it seems workable.

Basil is the worst. It's Basil Fawlty or Basil the pet. It was a name we strongly considered for our beagle.

Sorry, all sound like dog names to me. Esp Basil.

AppleCanoe Wed 02-Nov-16 05:38:39

Winston is fine and I think Basil is cute! Mm Baz.

NotYoda Wed 02-Nov-16 05:56:11

Winston just about passes, but neither of the others

NotYoda Wed 02-Nov-16 05:56:53

What about Leonard/Lennie?

BertrandRussell Wed 02-Nov-16 06:02:54

Never use a name that's one easy letter change away from something rude.

In the current political climate people might think Winston is a statement.

Which leaves Basil. Which is OK. If wet.

stonygreysoil Wed 02-Nov-16 06:20:11

sorry, none of them are great..Winston the least bad.

Instead of them, how about..

Tristan , Ezra or Frank?

mymilkshakes00 Wed 02-Nov-16 06:23:20

Winston is nice.

GazingAtStars Wed 02-Nov-16 06:51:46

They're all horrible I'm afraid tiredness is clouding your judgement!

lalaloopyhead Wed 02-Nov-16 07:00:29

I'm sorry but when I saw the title I was surprised this was a baby names thread and not a pet one. Great pet names but I don't think they are nice for a child at all.

Ankleswingers Wed 02-Nov-16 07:06:15

grin Pluto30

All terrible IMO op, sorry.

Tryanythingonce16 Wed 02-Nov-16 07:29:47

Really bad. I'm not sure if you are joking.

icantgetnosleep5 Wed 02-Nov-16 07:32:21

IMO Winston is the only usable option!

MackerelOfFact Wed 02-Nov-16 07:34:12

I know a Winston but he goes by Stan, which I think is all you need to know about the name.

They all sound like names for a pet, sorry.

ThoraGruntwhistle Wed 02-Nov-16 07:37:31

They're not to my taste at all, sorry. They'd be lovely on a pet but not a baby.

Loyly Wed 02-Nov-16 07:39:44

I'm really sorry I can't find one that I like in Winston, Basil or Hank.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Wed 02-Nov-16 07:41:40

I don't mind Basil - I think of Brambly Hedge or Jilly Cooper.

SpareRoomChaos Wed 02-Nov-16 07:49:44

For that 'older gent' theme, how about Stanley, Frederick, Wilfred (nn Freddie) or Edward (nn Eddy)?

For 'Hank' maybe Harry or Henry with the nickname Hank? (Possibly used by your husband alone because it's pretty terrible).

Hand, wank, hanky. It's basically just male masturbation in a name. Sorry Hanks.

Ha, brilliant responses. Thanks! Back to the drawing board... Once I've had some sleep!
