Hey. I'm trying to think of a name for my daughter. I want an elegant name. I've always thought that the name Alyssa was quite nice. What do you all think?

I think it's beautiful smile

Definitely, great choice OP.

Yes elegant.

It's a lovely name but I don't consider it elegant - makes me think of Alyssa Milano (who I like as an actress but wouldn't think of as elegant).

BeattieBowRisenFromTheDead Tue 01-Nov-16 19:16:08

I think Elissa is nicer, personally.

Alice is nicest and classy.
Alyssa can be a bit 'screeched out in iceland by a woman in pj's' iyswim?

Kittykatmacbill Tue 01-Nov-16 19:35:29

I don't think, so Alice is more elegant.

The one Alyssa I know certainly isn't elegant, she's a teeny tiny very bouncy cheerful 6 year old. But elegant she is not, though she may be one day!

MoonHare Tue 01-Nov-16 19:41:42

No it's not elegant.

Strokethefurrywall Tue 01-Nov-16 19:42:13

I think of my friends 3 year Alyssa who is utterly beautiful, half Spanish little one.

Gorgeous name because I think of her!

Not elegant to me, more of a celeb / stage school type of name. Not awful, it's just not elegant.

Love this name a lot!

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 01-Nov-16 19:46:37

What Hodd said sorry

Not elegant no. I think it's the double s. Alicia seems more elegant to me but is pronounced a bit differently.

ozymandiusking Tue 01-Nov-16 20:29:27

I think Alicia is nicer.

SausageSoda Tue 01-Nov-16 20:41:32

I agree with Hodd -anything but elegant IMO, sorry blush

I like Alyssa, but it will be mistaken for Alicia/Alyssia/Alica/Alissa a lot, possibly.

Do you like the name Alexandra? I think that's elegant, and classy!

Or Francesca, or Frances? Or Elise?

BastardGoDarkly Tue 01-Nov-16 20:54:15

I wanted Alyssa, Elise or Alice for DD, but DH only liked Eloise, which I also love.

I think it's lovely OP.

HelloSunshines Tue 01-Nov-16 20:55:37

I do think Alice as some other posters have said is elegant, and pretty. It's more of a classic name than Alyssa.

The one I know is a big, buxom hockey-playing extrovert who is a bit on the I'M MAD, ME!!! LET'S ALL DO SHOTS!!!! side of things.
