Elton Bentley !

I wanted something tht cdnt b shortened and sounded a bit posho

I've asked my ten year old and friends if they know Elton john and just got blank stares..

Am I being mental ?! 🙈

Vixxfacee Wed 26-Oct-16 13:54:15

Doesn't sound posh.
Could he shortened to elt.
Bentley is rather unfortunate. Sorry!

SloanePeterson Wed 26-Oct-16 13:54:20

Sounded a bit posho?! Nope.

Foxtato Wed 26-Oct-16 13:55:29

Don't like Bentley

TopKittyKat Wed 26-Oct-16 13:55:34

I love it OP. Ignore the naysayers!

nagsandovalballs Wed 26-Oct-16 13:55:58

Well, it's not posh, it's American/Canadian. The only eltons (2!) I know are from there. I don't think elton john is an issue!

It's quite a lot of 't' sounds though.

Elton is a good solid name, but not going to achieve what you want in terms of posh!

NoCapes Wed 26-Oct-16 13:58:20

Elton is quite cool tbh, but iy can be shortened, and probably to El (I know an Elliott who is mostly just called El)
But Bentley is ... Well it pretty horrific tbh

Normandy144 Wed 26-Oct-16 13:58:21

Elton could get shortened to Elt. My Dad has been known to refer to Mr John as Elt! Is Bentley the surname or middle name? I'd rethink the Bentley bit assuming it's the middle name choice as it sounds anything but posh.

ScarletSienna Wed 26-Oct-16 13:58:33

I wouldn't say it sounds posh necessarily (all the truly 'posh' I know have children with names like Henry, Nicholas, Hector and Tom).
Elton John will be ore what other adults think I imagine but it wouldn't put me off it if I liked it.

I think Bentley is terrible for a name of a person. Does it have a significant meaning for you?

NoCapes Wed 26-Oct-16 13:59:10

Oh yes and not posh at all - not unless you think all the Britney's are also 'posho'

TataEs Wed 26-Oct-16 13:59:37

elton isn't posh. it's dated. and american. american dated. it's in there with bruce, bryce, dalton, kevin, butch, daryl, dwayne, shaun...

bentley is a car

Haha Bentley is our surname, so thts a sticker !

Normandy144 Wed 26-Oct-16 14:00:48

I'd opt for something classic against Elton, something like....
Elton Christopher
Elton James
Elton George
Elton Alexander
Elton Timothy

Vixxfacee Wed 26-Oct-16 14:01:19

Get rid of Elton if you can't get rid of Bentley!

ScarletSienna Wed 26-Oct-16 14:01:46

Bentley is a fine surname but I thought you were suggesting it as a middle name!

MotherDuckSaid Wed 26-Oct-16 14:03:15

The whole name would be Elton Charles Bentley (Bentley being our surname)

The only other name I like is Thomas, but I'm feeling a bit Meh about it, and my due date has been and gone 😭

Vixxfacee Wed 26-Oct-16 14:03:59

Charles Bentley sounds posh.
Charlie Bentley doesn't flow though.

MotherDuckSaid Wed 26-Oct-16 14:04:27

Ye ,I'm not a fan of Bentley as a name

NoCapes Wed 26-Oct-16 14:08:44

Oh Bentley is the surname blush whoops!

Foxtato Wed 26-Oct-16 14:14:36

Oh! Elton Charles is nice.
With the surname Bentley then Elton seems harsh with it, with the 't's.
It does sound nice all together

ScarletSienna Wed 26-Oct-16 14:16:14

Thomas Charles Bentley sounds great!

NoCapes Wed 26-Oct-16 14:18:31

Thomas Bentley is lovely!

MotherDuckSaid Wed 26-Oct-16 14:20:22

Perhaps I shud just go with Thomas then, maybe its my hormones telling me tht Elton is a spiffing brilliant name 😂

ScarletSienna Wed 26-Oct-16 14:23:39

Hormones told me that I liked Montgomery...
