Can someone help? Our son is 6 weeks (almost)...

Hello, our son is almost 6 weeks. We have an appointment on Thursday (to register him) and cannot change it!

We cannot agree... I know it sounds stupid :( I like: Aidan, Dylan, Elliot, Finn, Isaac, Leo and Noah. He doesn't like any, but doesn't seem to be offering any...

He suggested Brodie/Brody, I'm unsure! I think I prefer the Brodie spelling though (isn't that the original?) it doesn't remind me of that Netflix program, as I once met an amazing Brodie, which is what it makes me think of! However, I'm not keen on calling our son it...

It's really upsetting me!

Tricky !
I prefer Brodie, spelt this way.
From your list, I love Dylan.
How about Dylan Brodie ?
Which other names does he like, regardless of whether you do, or not.

I like Brody. The spelling Brodie seems more feminine to me and the y spelling masculine

If your not keen though you don't have to compromise. If demand he suggests more or you'll just choose

Out of your choices I like Elliott and Noah best. I also really like Dillon but this spelling only. Finn, Leo, Aiden and Isaac are nice names too just not really my style

I love your list! Dylan, Finn, Isaac, Leo and Noah were all high on our list! All great names!!

Thank you :)

Dylan Brodie is lovely! I just don't think he would agree, as he doesn't like Dylan :(

I feel like Brodie just seems more Scottish, while Brody seems American (not a bad thing!)

Names he loves are: Spencer, Toby, Victor and Wyatt.

I think Brodie is awful, no matter how you spell it. Your names are much nicer, but there are already enough Noahs and Leos.

Would Finn be Finbar on BC, that is a grand name?
Aidan and Isaac, again good strong names.
Dylan has lovely links with Dylan Thomas, is he your favourite poet?

Elliot I'm not too keen on, though it's popular ATM, he might be one of two or three Elliots at school.

Are there any family names that you like, which might work for both of you?

If you can't decide between the two of you, then you will have to take the lead, and pick the name that you want, after all you have carried the child for all these months, so the final choice should be yours.

have you tried the baby names app? It's like tinder for names, you both swipe yes or no on names and it creates a mutual list of likes. I don't think you should settle for a name your not keen on just because he isn't suggesting anything else. I've had the very same issue with my OH.

Well, he would be just Finn :)

Not many family names that are usable, but Michael was my grandad's name and DH's grandad's name.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I did something similar. You both select names from the top 500, it then tells you which matched. Guess what? None matched!!!

The names on your list OP include letters A, N, D, L, O more than once, and all of your choices are quite soft-sounding, without harsh consonants. Your OH's choices include more of B, T, R. There must surely be a compromise out there Smile

Jasmine, Michael is a lovely name!
Michael Brodie.
I'm really not keen on your DHs choices, although I do like Victor (Vic).
There must be something else he likes 🤔

My Aidan (middle name james) is 8 weeks so I like that name from your list! People keep spelling it with an e which is annoying and i keep saying...'no, like Aidan Turner from Poldark..with an a!!' Or just 'no, its the traditionally irish spelling'. Other then that love the name! You could just strip it all back and go with something like Jack or Luke. Strong one sylabell names. I really like Isaac or Leo from your list. Toby from your dh' s. Brodie is a strange name. I am not sure about it. Do You have any strong feelings about a name from looking at him? I wanted Harry or Daniel but actually our baby boy just wouldn't have suited either name. Good luck op!

I don't like Brody/Brodie at all for some reason. From his list I like Toby and from yours I like Finn. What about Jude, Jed, Will?

What about Cody? I've always liked that name, and its similar to his choice.

I do like your list, esp Elliot and Leo.

What about Reuben and Zach?
