What are your thoughts? Starting to think it's a bit 'safe'. She is here but I can't quite settle to the name. I've noticed a few posts about name regret on here, so glad I'm not the only one! Other contenders were Naomi and Rose. Honest opinions most welcome. We probably won't change her name anyway but it helps to discuss!

I really like Lucy, I think its classy and a classic. Think Rose is in the same category. Both lovely, age well names, to suit all professions!
Really not a fan of Naomi, sorry. Its a totally different style of name to me.

I think it takes a while to think of a newborn as their name , instead of 'the baby' 😊

Dislike lucy and naomi. Rose is ok.

Love Lucy.

Love Lucy. It's one of my favourite names, but I can't use it because it sounds awful with my surname. Angry

Naomi and Rose are both nice, but not as nice as Lucy.

For what it's worth, Lucy is supposedly quite popular where I live (I think it's in the 15-20 range on the popularity chart) but I have never known one.

Love Lucy. It's a name for any age.

I like Lucy, Although i'm bias as it's the girl next doors name who has an amazing job, lovely car, minted boyfriend and is very very stylish, o anytime I hear someone called Lucy I associate it with her and think its someone who's got their life together.

Not keen on Rose though - To golden girls I think, Naomi is quite nice but I think you picked a lovely name.

Lucy is a lovely name. I may be slightly biased though.

I'm really not keen on the name Naomi. Rose is ok but Lucy is better

Lucy is the nicest. It's timeless. Naomi is OK. I really don't like Rose.

Lucy is a beautiful name, and underused at present. Much nicer than Naomi or Rose.

Ahh, thanks, you're cheering me up already! I do like the classic simplicity of Lucy, was just starting to worry that it was a bit lacking in 'character'. I think you're right though, the character comes from the person 'wearing' the name, and perhaps that takes a while to come through. I had more of an emotional connection to Rose, but a close friend used it recently and we decided it would have felt weird to use it too. Middle name was a family name - Heather, which I like but feel that neither were my first choice! Having said that, Lucy Heather is a lovely and surprisingly unusual name, so maybe I just need to get a bit 'badass' as I read in another thread and own it! You see, I'm talking myself around already. (And I know Rose doesn't go with Heather!).

I like Lucy and also Lucia :)

I have one and always have positive reactions. It's a name that grows with her so sounds just as good for a teenager as it did when she was a toddler. I have a Rosie too, she chose her sister's name.

Agree Lucy is timeless. It's a classic and has always been popular(ish), so I don't think will date as much as some other names ending in an 'e' sound that are popular at the moment. (Molly, Milly, Evie, etc.) Maybe go for an unusual middle name?

Gunpowder · 23/10/2016 20:51

Sorry x post! Love Heather as middle.

Well, I really don't like Lucy, as you're asking, but I know a lot of them so clearly my view is not that of most. LOVE Rose though!

I'm biased with rose as that's the name we.are using if this baby is a girl. I like Naiomi but its just OK. Lucy is a lovely name and definitely timeless, also lobe heather as middle name.

We have a Lucy, middle daughter of three.
Liked the simplicity of it and have now discovered other Lucys in previous generations.
Gets 'abbreviated' to Lou, Looby Lou or Luce (pronounced loose!)

Report
Notso · 23/10/2016 21:29

I think Rose is much nicer.
