80s Aussie!

WallisFrizz Sat 22-Oct-16 15:53:36

It's quite nice, transcends the classes I think.

Love Jude. Particularly for a boy.

NavyandWhite Sat 22-Oct-16 15:55:23

I like Eli with Jude..

ImSoVeryTired Sat 22-Oct-16 16:23:00

One word.... Seven!
Or am I the only geek around?

AndieNZ Sat 22-Oct-16 16:26:05

Reminds me of 80s American programme, Dynasty!

Like Blakeley though...

Chinlo Sat 22-Oct-16 19:44:59

I quite like it (for a boy) and think it goes well with Jude.

MotherDuckSaid Sat 22-Oct-16 20:23:20

not a fan sorry, bit rough around the edges..

My nephew is Blake - we were sceptical when we heard that was the name planned for him tbh but it suits him perfectly and doesn't seem strange at all. He's 8 now and it's still unusual without being too out there. Agree with pp that it transcends classes. If you like it, go for it.

T0ldmywrath Sat 22-Oct-16 21:09:52

Yeah I thought it'd be great when he is 7 ImSoVeryTired

I like the name though OP, Blake Carrington from Dynasty was very distinguished.

It's a lovely name.

CaoNiMa Sat 22-Oct-16 21:37:39

Sounds like flake which makes me think of dandruff shock

DramaAlpaca Sat 22-Oct-16 22:49:38

I'm not a huge fan of surnamey names, but I do like Blake. Probably because DS has a friend called Blake & he's lovely. It goes well with Jude.

Like. Considered for ds2. We also liked Rafferty, Elijah and Charlie.

I was born in the 80's so don't make that connection.

moomoo222 Sat 22-Oct-16 22:58:47

Like it (although did presume this would be an Amy Winehouse thread, didn't see it was in baby names until I got here!). Love the Rafferty suggestion above too.

Ollycat Sat 22-Oct-16 23:31:41

I think it's great. My son has a friend called Blake - I hadn't thought about the Dynasty link just the poet.

GinevraPotter Sun 23-Oct-16 00:07:04

I like it. It goes nicely with Jude.

Pemba Sun 23-Oct-16 00:50:06

Don't like it particularly, but it's OK. Better than some 'surname' type names, like Hunter, Carter, Mason, Archer, which are derived from occupations and just sound silly IMO.

Glad it's not for a girl!

Mornflake Sun 23-Oct-16 08:10:06

If you'd seen the Amy documentary the name might not have good associations. The name has no direct connection to the poet for me. It's a modern first name like Tyler, Mason etc.
The sound of the word Blake is nice and I like its androgyny. Nobody's mentioned the actress Blake Lively but she'll be around in pop culture for a long while yet.
