It wouldn't worry me too much, most people won't consider the potential connection. Could you pop a middle name in?

Mine were until I got married - no-one ever mentioned the nazis if that's what you're worried about!

I wouldn't. A colleague has this and detests it, and people do take the piss.

Perfectly fine, you're overthinking it. Who would hear the name 'Sharon Stone' or 'Steven Spielberg' or whatever and instantly associate that with the Nazis? I certainly wouldn't!

My two DC have these initials. Never been mentioned.

My ex had these initials. Nobody ever mentioned it. Even I never even thought anything of it until now.

Absolutely fine IMO.

My DD has these initials. Not an issue for us and never been commented on by anyone else. Her classmate also has the same initials.

I think that's fine.

Nobody will ever make that connection imo. I have only just thought of how my 22mo DC's initials might sound, and only because of this thread.

Steven Spielberg, Susan Sarandon, Stephen Segal, Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone. It's fine.

My initials are SS. I've always quite liked it, certainly never had a problem.

Report
UserOne · 21/10/2016 23:26

I think people only notice that one when the initials are actually written down, not the full name.

Just having a quick think, I know four different people with these initials and it has honestly never occurred to me that there was anything to mock.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 21/10/2016 23:33

Fine

I had this until getting married. No one ever said anything...although one friend called me secret squirrel.

I'm more likely to think 'steamship' (and it's a nice association).

At my work staff are listed on rota by initials, one person was asked to use their middle name as well due to rota reading JEW and SS on evening shift. Using middle name changed it to SAS.

They're my initials and I'm 31. It's never crossed my mind that it'd be an issue... I honestly am baffled by your concern.

Report
goatkid · 22/10/2016 00:10

sam I was exactly the same as you. I'd never even considered it as a 'thing' before!

Report
MrsGsnow18 · 22/10/2016 18:21

Not an issue.

Report
SueTrinder · 23/10/2016 18:19

It's not an issue, I know lots of people with the initials SS (seems a pretty common combination) and only know one person (who's a bit weird) mentioned there being an 'issue' with the initials.

Not an issue in the slightest

That's my initial since getting married last year. Never ever crossed my mind! And pretty sure nobody else has made such a connection. You're massively over thinking.

Fine.
