I think it's a lovely name - Alex is a great shortening too.

However, is it boring now?

ohgoodlordthatsmoist Sun 09-Oct-16 17:47:21

No it's lovely smile

FlappyRose Sun 09-Oct-16 17:49:46

Not at all. I think it's a lovely name.

Chinlo Sun 09-Oct-16 17:51:44

It's not boring, it's just classic. It's one of my favourite of the popular, traditional names.

HOW DARE YOU EVEN SUGGEST SUCH A THING.

wink

It's the best boys name ever. grin

Losgunna Sun 09-Oct-16 17:58:43

No it's really nice. I wanted it for DS but a friend has an Alexander already and he is by a country mile the sweetest, loveliest most thoughtful little boy I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He's an absolute joy to be around. He is six and I wish he was mine! this may have coloured my view

Giratina Sun 09-Oct-16 17:59:50

No it's not boring it's lovely and you can shorten it to Alex, Sandy or Xander if he wants when he's older.

LC01 Sun 09-Oct-16 18:00:19

Love it.

EllenDegenerate Sun 09-Oct-16 18:00:26

No

fisharefriendsnotfood Sun 09-Oct-16 18:00:36

I have an Alexander and it's a fab name. Classic but not common

Queasyrider Sun 09-Oct-16 18:00:51

No. I love it just as much as I did when I named DS1 Alexander 11 years ago. He's Alex to everyone.

DramaAlpaca Sun 09-Oct-16 18:40:07

No, it's a good name.

Ohdofuckoffplease Sun 09-Oct-16 18:43:44

No it's lovely! Not boring at all. I really like Alex as a shortening too. Not massively keen on Sandy or Xander but they aren't terrible either.

WhatwouldRuthdo Sun 09-Oct-16 18:46:32

It's a great name <biased>. And although it's fairly popular, we don't come across that many others here.

areyoubeingserviced Sun 09-Oct-16 18:47:35

One of my favourite names for a boy

ThroughThickAndThin01 Sun 09-Oct-16 18:47:47

Not boring!

TheRadiantAerynSun Sun 09-Oct-16 18:48:28

Well, I may be biased because I have one and in my family it's part of a strong naming tradition (we have lots of Alexs)

I think it's the perfect name. Flexible, classic, lots of NN options, popular without being trendy.

Not at all boring.

MotherDuckSaid Sun 09-Oct-16 19:01:25

i really like it smile

WaitrosePigeon Sun 09-Oct-16 19:13:02

There's nothing wrong with it, but I find it boring.

sugarplumfairy28 Sun 09-Oct-16 19:26:29

It's not offensive in any way whatsoever, but I personally find it it a little too common and pedestrian now days.

WeArePregnant11 Sun 09-Oct-16 19:29:55

It's perfect smile

I prefer the nn Alec, but Alex is also lovely.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sun 09-Oct-16 19:34:22

Absolutely not boring.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sun 09-Oct-16 19:35:39

I love Alec too.

Shockers Sun 09-Oct-16 19:37:47

The two I know, Alex and Alekss, are both gorgeous, sparky little boys!

Notmoreantihistamines Sun 09-Oct-16 19:42:53

Lovely name, not boring, and I am not biased as I dont have an Alex. We nearly used as a middle name but as initials made an unfortunate acronym.
