We are expecting a baby girl and really love the name Madison. Thoughts?

Buttonmoonb4tea Sat 08-Oct-16 17:50:07

I actually love it. Was Going to call my DD this but when I gave birth and met her the name didn't fit. She now says she wishes I had called her Madison grin

Not keen, I prefer Madeleine.

Loyly Sat 08-Oct-16 17:57:38

I don't like it, sorry.

KoalaDownUnder Sat 08-Oct-16 17:58:35

It's very 90s. And masculine-sounding. And American.

Sorry, do not like. Far prefer Madeleine.

Dozer Sat 08-Oct-16 17:58:59

I like it, but prefer Madeline. Will inevitably be shortened to Maddie.

LadyMonicaBaddingham Sat 08-Oct-16 18:04:26

And Madeleine won't?

It's not a huge favourite with me, but I very heard MUCH worse, OP. If you like it, that's the important thing smile

midsomermurderess Sat 08-Oct-16 18:17:55

Why suggest an entirely different name? Is it because it begins with an M? These answers always baffle me. Madeleine and Madison are entirely different kinds of name. Is it likely the op will say, oh yes Madeleine, why didn't I think of that?

If I ever have another child and it's a girl, Madison (Maddie) is the name I would be using.

So a thumbs up from me! I think it's quite feminine sounding.

PunySorrows Sat 08-Oct-16 18:26:07

It sounds dated to me. If it was a garment, it would be recognisably something very fashion-y from several seasons ago.

gunsandbanjos Sat 08-Oct-16 19:26:14

Hate it, sorry.

MaxineRockatansky Sat 08-Oct-16 19:29:36

Hideous.

Joinourclub Sat 08-Oct-16 19:31:20

I think it sounds like a character from 90210

MiniAlphaBravo Sat 08-Oct-16 19:42:07

I really don't like it as it sounds like a boys name and is from a film (early 90s/late 80s?) so it's very easy to date and certainly not a classic name.

NavyandWhite Sat 08-Oct-16 20:58:39

It is in the same category as Lexi-Mae.

ChunkyMcBitch Sat 08-Oct-16 21:03:08

Love it!

katemess12 Sat 08-Oct-16 21:09:18

I like it. I know a few, but they're all 20+ now.

I know two Maddisons, and one Madison. I prefer the Madison spelling, as I think that's how most would assume it's spelt. They do all get Maddie for short, but so do all of the Madeleines I know.

Yep, I'm in the minority, but I think it's a lovely name. I don't much care for the negative "sounds American" thing. It does sound quite American (although I'm in Australia) but that's not inherently a bad thing.

Oysterbabe Sat 08-Oct-16 21:42:38

I quite like it, mostly because I love the film Splash.

BellaShLex Sat 08-Oct-16 23:59:47

I really like Madison, so much better than Madeleine. It is very American sounding but I don't think that's a bad thing!

bummyknocker Sun 09-Oct-16 00:36:08

Madison, Jordon, Kenton, Jayden, all horrible chavvy names.

FantaZero6 Sun 09-Oct-16 00:37:41

F off bummy

SuburbanRhonda Sun 09-Oct-16 00:42:42

If you "really love" Madison, why bother asking what random strangers think? confused

TellMeStraight Sun 09-Oct-16 00:43:37

Square

bummyknocker Sun 09-Oct-16 00:46:44
