What do people think of the name Harriet. We would probably call her Hattie day to day.

PageStillNotFound404 Wed 05-Oct-16 07:07:42

Love it, one of my favourite girls names.

NavyandWhite Wed 05-Oct-16 07:08:18

Gorgeous and one of my favourites too.

Soyouare2faced Wed 05-Oct-16 07:09:04

I think it's lovely , although I have a Hattie and it gets a lot of hmm looks

plugitinsilly Wed 05-Oct-16 07:09:52

It's ok but a bit plain imho. DD (4) had 3 Hatties at preschool (total 35 kids, 20 in each session).

It's a safe choice but leaves me feeling a bit meh.

schoolchange123 Wed 05-Oct-16 07:14:23

Love it.

Love it, even suggested it to my DH but then realised with my cockney accent she'd get called 'ah-ee'!
Make sure you're in an area where people pronounce their h's and t's

rugbychick1 Wed 05-Oct-16 07:23:59

I love it, but I am biased! At the moment it's not shortened, but dd is only 4.6 years, so I'm sure it will be soon!

Caldini22 Wed 05-Oct-16 07:24:38

I'm not a big fan, I find the 't' ending a bit sharp

BearFeet Wed 05-Oct-16 07:26:54

Love it.

BendydickCuminsnatch Wed 05-Oct-16 07:27:19

I'm a Harriet and most people don't really say the 't' so it's not that sharp. Sounds a bit prissy if you say the 't'. I'm a Harry. Like my name!

WaitrosePigeon Wed 05-Oct-16 07:28:26

I love it. We were planning on using it for our daughter but she didn't 'fit' the name.

jessica29054 Wed 05-Oct-16 07:28:53

It's lovely.

NavyandWhite Wed 05-Oct-16 07:44:36

I've got a T ending (sound) name and the T isn't accentuated! I can't think of any name that would be!?

Blu Wed 05-Oct-16 07:48:53

Great name.
I wish I was called Harriet!

BendydickCuminsnatch Wed 05-Oct-16 08:22:24

Yes, it's the same as Charlotte, Scarlett etc, not a crazy OTT T! smile

ElizaDontlittle Wed 05-Oct-16 08:24:33

Only know one, and love it. Lovely classic timeless name.

Sandsnake Wed 05-Oct-16 08:44:33

Big fan.

Caldini22 Wed 05-Oct-16 08:51:34

Good point maybe I'm overthinking it :-)

0pti0na1 Wed 05-Oct-16 08:54:31

I find it a bit prim TBH, but a lot of people like it so take no notice of me grin

Unfairestofthemall Wed 05-Oct-16 08:56:13

It's my DDS name and I love it. She's only 7 months old so has no opinion yet. Haven't had a negative comment though smile

BertrandRussell Wed 05-Oct-16 08:56:31

I usually hate girl versions of boy's names, but I make an exception for Harriet!

Harriet Vane is a brilliant role model too.

NavyandWhite Wed 05-Oct-16 08:59:06

Henrietta is another gorgeous H name..

Sugarpiehoneyeye Wed 05-Oct-16 09:07:44

I have a Harriet Matilda (Hattie).
It's a lovely name 😄

PotatoBread Wed 05-Oct-16 09:09:59

I like it smile
