DH has already said no to Matteo and Luca 😫. Any ideas for an Italian boy name that works in U.K. also? We have Francesca and Alessia picked out for a girl..

Why Italian? That's quite limiting.

Luca is my personal favourite.
How about Arturro, Benitto, Leno, Carmello, Frederico.

My nephew is Giorgio. SIL is British, BIL is Italian and in the Italian armed forces, so they will move around a fair amount and wanted something that would work in English and Italian.

I love Santino but was banned from using it on DS.

Alessandro is lovely. Lots of the others are too. Are there Italian connections in your family? If so, can you get them to say if any of your suggested names are out of fashion? I'm thinking of cases where you might choose a name that will have modern Italians falling about laughing - the equivalent to calling a British baby Gary or Sharon, for example.

One that I don't think has been mentioned yet: Ludovico, Ludo for short.

Also, I had two lovely school friends called Claudio and Fabio.

most of the names mentioned are used today in Italy. But you do raise a good point.

OP do you have any Italian connections? Here the DD1 and DS1 are normally named after maternal GM and Paternal GF to show "respect" and to carry on the name.

I know about 7 of them. All under 18 so not a Gary and surpisingly from left wing families.

Cosmo - my DH is Italian and FIL is Cosimo. Nice compromise and works well in both languages.
