Jonah, Louis, Gabe or Rex?

Gabe is great as a nn for Gabriel but not as a full birth certificate name IMO. I do like it though.

I love Rex, it was my Uncles name. Lots of names are so called 'dogs names', (Lily, Freya, Max, Jack, etc), more so for shorter names though.You could call your baby any name and you could meet a dog with that name.

Gabe would be my next choice and I don't like the other two names.

Might be a dog's name for some, but then again I have a neighbour with a dog called Rufus, and there is a boy at dd's school called Rufus. A friend has a horse called Megan. Another friend has a cat called Molly. My mother had a chicken called Henrietta and I went to school with two girls called Henrietta. My point is that any name could be used as a pet's name, but I still like Rex!

Louis and GabRIEL are lovely names. Jonah is fine. Rex is a dog's name.

Don't like any of them but if I had to choose then it would be Louis. Don't like Angel Gabriel {Gay for short}' Rex the dog or Jonah and the whale.

1. Jonah - love this name! It's on my list.
   
   
2. Rex - I sort of like this, but it is a bit of a 'dog's name', as much as I hate to use that Baby Names board cliché. Also, it's a bit trendy I think, since Fearne Cotton used it for her son, so I wonder if it might date badly.
   
   
3. Gabe - I don't mind this as a nn for Gabriel, which is a lovely name, but I don't like it on its own. I think it might be hard to pull off.
   
   
4. Louis - I just don't like the sound of this and I can't really explain why - it's a bit of a whiny sound when I say it to myself.

Rex Rex Rex!! Love it. People saying "its a dogs name"...have you ever in all honesty met a dog called Rex? I haven't. I know 2 on my road called Charlie though, should i then commenet every time on Charlie name threads telling OP no way as its a dogs name??! Get over it and your old fashioned connotations. Its an awesome name.

Louis and Gabe in 2nd place but not at all as strong or individual as Rex. No to Jonah sound very trying to be American.
