Hello smile

Our son arrived yesterday morning. We cannot agree on a name! However, we both like Alfie? Just Alfie. Not Alfred, etc.

Thoughts?

My DS has 3 Alfie's in his class. It's very popular.

Sounds like you do agree on a name.

Yes, now we do. I think!

Just wanted opinions first

JennyOnAPlate Sun 25-Sep-16 19:05:33

I like it. It's very popular if that matters.

My Alfie is 12, I have no regrets, it suits him perfectly smile

Lovely name smile

It's pretty popular, so obviously a lot of people do like it! What's more important though is that you both do!

ShmooBooMoo Sun 25-Sep-16 19:19:20

I like it!

Vajazzler Sun 25-Sep-16 19:23:36

Very popular now. I wouldn't use it

GoNorthDarren Sun 25-Sep-16 20:07:05

Not my cup of tea really, but I meet a lot of them at various ages and they all seem to suit it quite well. The popularity might put me off a little too, but it isn't the end of he world. If you and your DP both like it more than anything else, then I would go for it.

Ham69 Sun 25-Sep-16 21:30:54

Very popular and not in a good way IMO. Sorry! Archie slightly better.

Tiddlesunderthepier Sun 25-Sep-16 21:40:53

It was my second choice, but dad got his way after the event as I wasn't fit to debate it (although he didn't like it when originally suggested!) Mine is 11 now and we've only met one other in our area. You won't regret it! Mine could never be anything else now. Congratulations!

I'm not keen. But I think that's just because of his popularity, but. It's obviously popular for a reason.
Congratulations flowers

But call him an "adult" name on his birth certificate?? Alfred or Wilfred?

mamabluestar Mon 26-Sep-16 00:21:03

My grandad was always known as Alfie, even though he was Alfred. I love the name but it was very popular when I had my DS, so he is Joseph Alfie. If you both love it go for it. Congratulations smile

Sugarpiehoneyeye Mon 26-Sep-16 12:49:02

Just Alfie is fine, he will become Alf, as he grows up.

pinkhorse Mon 26-Sep-16 12:54:00

I know a lot of dog's called Alfie so wouldn't call a child it but it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks. It's your baby!

Marmalade85 Mon 26-Sep-16 13:17:34

It's very popular so wouldn't be one I would go for.

newmummyy16 Mon 26-Sep-16 14:19:26

That's a cute name

Pipilangstrumpf Tue 27-Sep-16 14:33:10

I don't like Alfie personally, but as long as YOU love it, that's what matters. Congratulations!

WordGetsAround Tue 27-Sep-16 14:36:11

Nobody else's opinion should matter really. I don't like it - too cute and too popular, but that shouldn't bother you if you both like it! I bet you wouldn't like my name choices!

Hope you've had a great first 24 hours with him.

sonlypuppyfat Tue 27-Sep-16 18:17:02

Congratulations, it's a very popular name. I'm not keen but it's what you like, enjoy your life with him, boys are great fun. Mine makes my life complete
