Opinions on Octavius? smile

AllPowerfulLizardPerson Sun 25-Sep-16 17:22:32

Eighth DC?

Or some other association with eight?

Blue4ever Sun 25-Sep-16 17:23:37

Sorry by my honest opinion is why? It's a terrible name. Poor kid.

Madbengalmum Sun 25-Sep-16 17:24:12

No. Just no, sorry

lolalament Sun 25-Sep-16 17:24:34

I think it's better as a middle name, with first name "skoda"

HunterIs Sun 25-Sep-16 17:32:07

Why? Because we like it... No need for the poor kid bit! We haven't named him yet

nancy75 Sun 25-Sep-16 17:33:38

It sounds a bit pompous

sonlypuppyfat Sun 25-Sep-16 17:34:20

My thoughts are you've got a great sense of humour

FoxesSitOnBoxes Sun 25-Sep-16 17:34:47

Awful, sorry

FlappyRose Sun 25-Sep-16 17:37:21

I don't like it, sorry. It's just a bit too much.

SpeckledyBanana Sun 25-Sep-16 17:37:51

I don't like it.

PoshPenny Sun 25-Sep-16 17:38:06

Why not, but then I Chose Octavia for my younger daughter. So named as she was born on the 8th August (and we were completely stuck for a girls name). 21 years on, there are no regrets.

Having admitted my bias, what's wrong with it? It's very livable with compared to some of the naff and pretentious names punted on here by parents to be.

Only1scoop Sun 25-Sep-16 17:38:49

Awful
I guess Otto as a short version in passable but the whole shebang NO

HunterIs Sun 25-Sep-16 17:39:57

PoshPenny, we thought the same! He was born on the 8th September smile

HunterIs Sun 25-Sep-16 17:41:31

We also like Peregrine

IminaPickle Sun 25-Sep-16 17:42:01

Otto is lovely- nothing to do with 8, but being born in the 8/9 is a bit tenuous anyway.

IminaPickle Sun 25-Sep-16 17:43:26

Does your baby smoke a pipe? They're both rather elderly names wink

Only1scoop Sun 25-Sep-16 17:44:03

Dear Lord

dailyarsewipe Sun 25-Sep-16 17:47:04

Oh dear. No.

HunterIs Sun 25-Sep-16 17:48:07

Egbert? Leonidas?

PoshPenny Sun 25-Sep-16 17:49:16

Now I know a Peregrine and that would put me off choosing that name, because I'd think of him every time grin. Whereas my Titch, well, she has a beautiful soul and I couldn't be more proud of her and what she's achieved. All those 8s are supposed to be lucky...

AnyTheWiser Sun 25-Sep-16 17:50:00

I understand, as my very favourite name is Septimus. There's no way I'd have seven children to get to use it though! ( I blame my love of Septimus on an early Rupert the Bear obsession).

AnyTheWiser Sun 25-Sep-16 17:50:38

Hector?
DH wanted Peregrine.

BoneyBackJefferson Sun 25-Sep-16 17:57:47

Doc Ock.

MrsJoeyMaynard Sun 25-Sep-16 18:04:22

I like Octavius a lot.

But I wouldn't use it for one of my DC because it's just that little bit too unusual for me.
